I booked a last minute night away to The Countryman Hotel. I soon realised why it was the only hotel in the area that had vacancies. I arrived, early, at 11am, after a 4 hour drive with my daughter and 2 dogs in the car. I was greeted by a woman shouting through the upstairs window that I was "too...

First time here, stayed 2 nights, could have stayed longer and look forward to meeting Rob and Sylvia again on our next journey to St Ives. Outstanding location for a family with dogs (we have 2 English Springer Spaniels). the food was fab, especially Robs fresh fish recipes. I really can't fault the Countryman. My accolade to Rob and Sylvia,...

Elvis [Rob] and Sylvia, were such warm, friendly hosts it's a bit difficult to know where to begin. We stayed for three days over Christmas, we chose it because they said they were dog friendly, if anything I think the dog was made more welcome than us, and that would have been difficult to do. we had a Christmas present...

We stayed for the weekend of 25th to 27th November 2016 with two of our friends. Right from the start we were made very welcome and in the lounge/ bar/ dining room we felt as if we were staying in the owners living room. Straight away we hit it off with 'Elvis' and it soon became apparent that his jokes...

I brought a group of Italians to visit Cornwall in September and we stayed at the Countryman, a nice quiet position a few kilometres outside St. Ives. There was a real family atmosphere which my Italian guests greatly appreciated and Robert Wilkinson gave us a special treat one evening - his excellent impersonation of Elvis Presley got them all dancing.
