The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. We don't mind shabby but we do expect a twin room with places to put things down, including the clothes you take off! We did take two chairs from the corridor, not really space for them, but they saved the day. The location is brilliant, even if the car park is...

Warm welcome, traditional interior, extremely friendly staff. Our room at the back of the hotel was very clean, well equipped with tea, coffee and toiletries in the bathroom. We were at a family wedding and stayed for three nights. Rooms were cleaned every day and linen changed if required. The hotel is centrally situated, five minutes from the harbour and...

The hotel is very well situated in the centre of town. Shops, pubs, buses, harbour and beaches, and rail station are all just minutes walk away. It is in need of refreshing and refurbishment - tired carpets, squeaky doors, no lift. Bedroom was ok but a bit cramped; shower worked fine but no shower gel provided (for £120 a night!)....

Nice hotel in good location - could easily walk anywhere (& from the train station with a wheelie suitcase), which is the best form of transport anyway as there were always traffic jams throughout the town's narrow streets. Delicious big cooked breakfast and friendly staff. Not the biggest bedroom ever (can't remember number), but this is not uncommon for a...

Ideally situated right in the centre of St Ives. I liked the kettle and wink pub downstairs with live music every night. Very friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. Very tasty freshly cooked breakfast. My room was at the back so nice and quiet

We stayed in the Western hotel with friends and on arrival of our room we were very disappointed. Room was a small double, had no view just of a wall and the window area was very dirty and covered in birds poo. The decor was in much need of a makeover, walls were dirty and looked like makeup smudged over a...

Stayed for 2 nights, lovely spacious room. Could have done with blinds on the window instead of just a curtain as very bright in room as soon as sun rises. Arrived too early to check in but friendly guy on reception allowed us to leave our bags until check in time and also offered to help carry them to our...

Stayed here for 4 nights with a friend. We came to St Ives for sun and beach and wanted to stay in a central location as the town is quite hilly. The hotel may need a bit of paint and new carpets here and there, but it is clean and everything fully functional. And the people working there... wonderful and...

The staff were very helpful. Sadly the hotel needs updating. The owners should at least clean the carpets. The nearest car park is £12.50 for 24 hours. We were in the back of the hotel but, above an Indian restaurant. The front is noisy so I would suggest do not go to the hotel if it is a rest you...
