Fentafriddle was an absolute delight. The high standard of decor was beautiful and I spent most of the week trying to work out how I could live there!

Staying in January meant we could have the log fire burning all day and it really packed out the heat, despite the wind howling outside! The surrounding countryside was great for walks- we really felt part of the elements when out, and then super cosy when we got back.

The open plan feel of the downstairs created a lovely flow meaning you could have some of your own space without being antisocial.

The kitchen had absolutely everything we could need and then some. The beds were all super kings and were really comfy.

This was the perfect place for a family gathering and I can’t wait to go back.

I have just returned from a week at Fentafriddle, at Trebarwith Strand in Cornwall. The visit was to celebrate my 40th birthday and to usher in 2018 with a group of close friends and family, and we had a simply brilliant time. Fentafriddle is quite perfect, every aspect of the property has been carefully thought out, making it both beautiful and extremely comfortable.

The location is excellent, on an extremely well-tended hilltop plot of land that gives way to a panoramic view of the coastline and sea, which means guests are afforded space, privacy, and beautiful views, yet they also benefit from easy access to local shops and restaurants, and to main roads that are not too far away, meaning it is easy to find if you are visiting from elsewhere in the country.

The house is beautifully decorated and the layout is excellent, with a perfectly proportioned and well appointed kitchen/dining area, which then flows into a cosy living room with a large (and fantastic) wood burning stove surrounded by a sofa and armchairs, which then leads to a circular “roundhouse” sitting room with numerous sofas, armchairs, the biggest communal footstool you ever saw, a modern entertainment system, and panoramic views from enormous picture windows on three sides that look out onto the hills, the local villages and the coastline.

There is one double bedroom downstairs with an ensuite wet-room bathroom, and three double bedrooms upstairs, each of which also include ensuite bathrooms, with the master bedroom also having an enormous roll-top bath in which you can bathe in luxury while enjoying the view from the window, looking out over the countryside to the village of Tintagel in the distance. All bedrooms feature enormous, comfortable kingsize beds and are tastefully decorated in a blend of both the traditional and contemporary, which works to stunning effect.

The attention to detail throughout the property is top-notch, and real care and attention has been given to ensure that guests are extremely well looked after, I don’t want to tell you everything in this review to avoid spoiling some of the genuinely lovely surprises that we found on arrival, but little touches such as the enormous and never-ending supply of wood for the fire, the huge basket of Nespresso coffee pods, the well-appointed kitchen and dining room, the music and entertainment system, and the comprehensive information about activities in the local area all contribute to a real sense of comfort, and being looked after by people who care. In the depths of winter, we were so warm and comfortable inside, even while Storm Eleanor raged outside; yet the property would be perfect in the summer too, with barbecues and drinks on the terrace. As it was, we spent the first half of the week celebrating and partying (the remote location meant we could have the music turned up LOUD without disturbing anyone!) and then the second half of the week was slightly calmer, as we relaxed and recovered!

In conclusion, I highly recommend Fentafriddle and would like to thank the owners for their kindness and the efforts they have gone to, in order to create such a wonderful place to stay. They have thought of everything. There are even two onsite donkeys (Priscilla and Gladys!) that live in the nearby field, that the children enjoyed feeding carrots to in return for the chance to stroke their ears! Also, thank you to the owners for the recommendation to try the St Tudy Inn restaurant, we went for dinner one night and enjoyed it so much we returned a few days later for a follow-up meal.

We all had such a great time, we are already planning a return to Fentafriddle for our next holiday, to be honest we didn’t want to leave!

8 of us (4 couples) rented this beautiful house for 4 nights. I chose it as there aren't many places that have all 4 bedrooms en-suite, where Fentafriddle does, but the quality and attention to detail are also excellent. The beds are large and comfortable, with nice linens. The kitchen is large and extremely well equipped and although the weather wasn't brilliant, the views and setting are quiet and beautiful. The lounge is spacious and inviting, with ample seating for everyone. The beach is a 20 min walk, downhill, therefore the only downside is it's all uphill on the way back!

We recently stayed in Fentafriddle on a family holiday with young grandchildren. The house is spacious comfortable and well equipped as well as being in an idyllic situation with wonderful views across fields and towards the ocean. The sunsets are amazing.
There is plenty to do in the area for all age groups and Tintagel is close by for shopping although we found it very convenient to do online shopping from Sainsburys.
Lucy and James who own the property live close by and were extremely helpful and have obviously put so much care and attention into making Fentafriddle a perfect holiday home. We hope to return
