We recently stayed at the Royal Castle Hotel on a short last minute break . It was truly wonderful from the very beginning . The staff couldn't do enough for us , Warm greeting, polite friendly so helpful, parked our car, offered to carry bags, gave us free unexpected upgrade to a beautiful room with view of stunning river dart...

Local crab served in fresh brown bread sandwiches hit the spot. So well filled were these that a knife and fork were essential to avoid spilling crab all over your front! Service was swift despite the ground floor bar being full. As an aside, the gents' loo is well worth a visit for sheer wow factor.

This is a lovely old hotel overlooking the quay that we noticed after returning by boat from a visit to Agatha Christie's home on the Dart. It looked inviting so we wandered in and asked if they had a room for the night. They did but the standard rate was a bit high for a spur of the moment stay,...

Myself and my partner came to the Royal Castle Hotel for a meal in their restaurant 'The Grill Room' to celebrate being together and generally for an amazing evening out and the Castle did not disappoint, after having a few drinks in their main bar downstairs we were invited to be seated upstairs by our beautiful hostess Roxy, she was...

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Castle when I visited Britannia Royal Naval College on business. We had room 19 on third floor and with fabulous view over the harbour. When you book ask for a room with harbour view. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A key advantage of the Royal is that it has parking...

A friend and I popped into the bar for a glass of wine, following a funeral. Had a small glass each, and were charged £13. Nothing special either. Their food is very ordinary and expensive,so shall be going elsewhere from now on.

Stayed here a few weeks ago as part of a visit to Dartmouth for a joint birthday celebration with my best friend. The staff were excellent all round, we had a very nice room and dinner and breakfast were both enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Staff from cleaners, reception, bar, breakfast, managers are really friendly and make sure the stay is up to expectations. The staff and food here simple first class and I cannot fault. But what was totally disappointing was the room. I have stayed at hotels all over UK and around the world so I have a good feel if I get room worthy of cost. Here for £160.00 A night I got a small box room. I knew when booking...
