£8.30 for a pint of beer and half a cider. Used to be a good place, no longer. Prices here are more than pubs in Belgravia and Mayfair. Absolutely no atmosphere and an utterly confused identity. Not sure what it is really.

One of the better cafes. It had a pleasant atmosphere with Friendly staff and place was clean. The cake was good and the hot chocolate was made well. The toilets were also clean which is always a good sign. There are rooms to stay here too but we were just stopping for a drink.

It is not always easy to cater to our modern tastes in a half century old building--500 years is a long time and things have changed. Just a little! The stairs still creak and the building still leans and lists with wooden beams all over the place but those physical and structural necessities make it a charming place to stay.... More

We are regular visitors to Bayards and why wouldn't we be! We are always made to feel so welcome by the charming staff who go above and beyond (a special thanks to Callum from our most recent visit). The hotel is full of quirks with each room distinct from its neighbour. The coffee is to die for and the burger... More

We found Bayard Cove Inn a couple of years ago, when we stopped by for a coffee and a slice. We were very taken then by the wonderful atmosphere, the friendly staff and the quality of the service, especially with the care taken to cope with different diets. We loved it so much that we have just spent the last... More

The food and service is what really stands out if you stay here. We had dinner, bed and breakfast and the dinner was perfect as was the breakfast. All staff from cleaners to reception to waiting staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean and well equipped. We would definitely return. There are a few things to be aware... More

Spent three nights a this lovely old inn. We stayed in "Fisher" on the first floor. The room was spacious, with a separate seating area, and very comfortable. The ensuite shower room was a tad small but serviceable. The location is great for exploring Dartmouth and the coastal path walks. A wide choice is offered at breakfast and the overall... More

We had the chance of a one night stay in this historic inn in the oldest part of the picturesque town of Dartmouth. From the moment we walked in we were made welcome. Staying in the Nelson suite on the top floor, all the facilities were all excellent, the bed beautifully comfortable and the view down the estuary of the... More

Bayards Cove Inn offers lovely accommodation in an ideal location. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We stayed for just 1 night with breakfast and it was a lovely. The room was quaint and had its own style and fitted perfectly with the rest of the building. Breakfast was delicious and plenty on offer. Would recommend Bayards Cove Inn to... More

We were attending a two day event with friends and spent 3 nights at the Inn. The staff were just amazing...nothing was too much much trouble and they were fun to deal with. The room was excellent, with really good tea/coffee facilities. Only thing missing was a box of tissues. Breakfast is really special too....no wonder they won an award for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This small friendly hotel is one of Dartmouth’s oldest and most interesting buildings. It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchant's house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. The hotel is conveniently situated in Bayards Cove in the centre of this lovely town, with the market and main shopping area only a short level walk away. Guests are sure to enjoy the unique character of the hotel and its thoughtfully refurbished luxury rooms, all of which have freeview, televisions and DVD players, and some also enjoy views over the water of the cove. ... more   less
