We were on a three night break in Ide staying at our Daughter-In-Law to be's house. The Poachers Inn was just four doors away and recommended by the D-I-L. We arrived early evening and the place was rammed. However, the welcome and relaxed atmosphere immediately made us feel at home. We ordered our drinks and were shown to a Table...

Had a most excellent festive beer in this proper pub. Nothing corporate or plastic here or crappy compilation playing in the background just a smile at the bar,a good beer offering and although didn't eat, what looked like a great food selection.

This was a bit off the beaten track for me, about eight miles of so north of Dorchester. But it was very comfortable accommodation, set behind a traditional old English pub in a very old village which is named in the Doomsday Book. The food was excellent, the staff very professional and friendly and they have a good selection of...

I don't know where to start really so here goes. On a positive note, the breakfast was very good and plenty of it. This inn is in a good location for travelling into Exeter. We stayed for one night at the poachers inn and I was very disappointed with the accommodation. We arrived and the pub at a very busy...

I love this place, feel at home instantly, I love the olde pub comfy sofas friendly locals and welcoming staff. The food served is local, tasty and reasonably priced. We had booked an evening meal for a Saturday. As we had been out for the day in the South Hams area walking we were very much looking forward to our meal. We have visited The Poachers for a drink on many occasions and the food always looked good. When we arrived the pub was quiet and only a couple...

Fantastic B&B. Tony the owner was very welcoming and friendly, great selection of well kept real ales, and comfortable bar area with lovely feature open fire ( wasn't lit when we were there, hot summers day! ) but judging by the massive pile of split logs outside should be great on cold evenings. Evening meal taken in the large beer...

Went for Sunday lunch 27 October 2013. Service was rude and the woman behind the bar/waitress clearly didn't want to be at work and made all the non-regulars know it. Both the other tables I was sat near all said independently that they would not be back Food was ok. Vegetables came out at different time to the roast, and...

After spending a week at the Poachers Inn, I am really looking forward to staying there again for another week. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and warm. The food menu is excellent, very tasty, plentiful and filling. Great value for money. Thankyou. Stuart Berry Coventry.

Just back from Sunday lunch and the food was top quality. Fresh and delicious main course with the most yummy key lime pie for pudding. The service was friendly and the atmosphere for our family get together was just right. Will definitely be returning when next visiting.

“Rooms are accessed by a narrow, winding staircase, so would not be suitable for people with mobility issues. Be aware that the owner has a dog, so if you are allergic or simply don't like dogs it's probably not the place for you.”

“Would not choose the one above the bar again but then, you are staying in a pub!”

“There are only three rooms, all traditionally furnished in cottage style. One has a four poster bed. If you want rooms devoid of character and environmentally deprived stop at a travelling salespersons' hotel on the motorway!”
