I visited the Hotel with my daughters for afternoon tea. We found the Hotel lovely and very inviting. My only problem was the lack of staff to be found serving in the bar area. We found the staff in the reception area to be very helpful and professional and dealt with our dilemma to the missing staff very quickly so...

Unfortunately, given the enjoyable time we had at the hotel, we were there just for the one night. We have visited many Hotel du Vins (HdV) and thus are familiar with the level of service they endeavour to provide. Our enjoyment of their Exeter hotel commenced a few days before our arrival when Josh from reception called to ensure we...

I stayed here recently the night before a business meeting in Exeter. I have to say I was very impressed with the hotel overall. My only slight complaint was the size of the room. Even though I was staying along the room was extremely small. I stayed in room 115, the room was very clean and had a great bathroom....

Having visited when HDV first acquired this hotel and experienced some teething troubles we decided to revisit and see how they were faring. What a difference, reception - they actually have a desk of sorts.. rooms - great, clean, spacious Dinner and service - excellent, nothing was too much trouble All four of our party throughly enjoyed the stay and...

Stayed for one night as a honeymoon present. Beautiful old building that keeps its charm and character on the inside. Staff were all very polite and pleasant. The room was lovely (superior) with plenty of little extras. Loved the mood lighting settings. Ate dinner in the evening, booked the £39.00 for 2 people to have 2 courses. Again all staff...

Stayed for business on a Monday night, was upgraded to a superior room with a fantastic separate bathroom (just with a bath and ambient lighting) and shower room, as well as a huge bed which was incredibly comfortable. Had a fantastic 3 course set menu dinner (meatball and snail ragout was brilliant) and then any equally good breakfast (crab and...

Alluring name and central location [with parking], Exeter's Hotel duVin has emerged from the city's old eye-hospital. It possessed the right number of stars, facilities and food offer. Overall, a good experience with young staff, many new [part-trained] but those that were can be reliable, observant, connective and polite. Rooms [ours anyway] were trendy, dark and missing a door between...

Thank you so much for your kind comments on the team, rest assures that you comments have been passed on. Liam is very pleased that you enjoyed his food and the menu, even more for getting a mention! Training our employees is a continuous journey and the initial training takes around 13 weeks, and further detailed specific after that. The...

Having stayed at both Bristol and Cheltenham I had high expectations of this one and booked it because of this and also because we love Exeter for shopping. Upon arrival the building, because it is the former Eye Infirmary is not very attractive to the eye and the limited car parking spaces outside the front were full. We were told...

Thank you so much for you comments and latest review. It is disappointing that you do not think the outside of the building is impressive, most of our guest think our beautiful Victorian red brick building has real WOW factor. I am surprised that no one replied to your email whilst you were in the hotel, we aim to answer...

Hadn't visited since it became a HdV..We had a meal only as locals so no need to stay. The restaurant itself looks like it did when it was Magdalen Chapter ..Quite cosy and relaxed with a view of the kitchen. The bar and lounge were less busy when it used to do lots of cocktail offers but maybe that's because...

The hotel itself was very nice as hotels go. The bed was very comfortable, the room was warm and quiet for a good nights sleep and it was clean and tidy. The downside was the restaurant service and offering. The staff were not very attentive to what was going on and clearly need more training. We were seated to our...
