Decided to have lunch here today as we were in the area on our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed, Lovely fish and chips, massive portions. Beer is excellent (exmoor stag). Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal in a lovely pub. The staff are polite and very friendly. Hope to return here again when in...

Lynmouth is only 12 miles from where we live and we always try to make a point of eating here. Went for lunch yesterday and as good as it has always been. Smoked fish platter, calamari and delicious Porlock Bay oysters. It is our idea of food heaven. Thank you again for a great meal.

Beautiful setting and whilst not cheap, the food was exceptionally good as was the service. Additional surprises accompanied the meal and all in all, worth every penny. You can choose from the A La Carte restaurant menu or the less expensive bar menu if reserved in there. Both had delicious choices and all tables were full, even for a Thursday...

Lovely room, unfortunately the restaurant isn't what it used to be! Pretentious, stuffy, I'm not sure why??? Please bring yourself into the 21st century!! A very small choice of meals, if you're vegetarian just don't bother!! Really disappointing after many years of staying, I just don't want anyone to waste.their hard earned money!! Sadly, we won't be staying again.

The pub/hotel is in a great location opposite the harbour. We had a great room (No.3) which was lovely, with a modern bathroom which had underfloor heating. Good selection on breakfast menu, cannot comment on restaurant as we didn't dine there but would expect the food to be good. Regarding Lynmouth well, the town shuts at 6pm, apart from the...

We do agree we are set in a great location with both costal and country side views on our doorstep, which makes for some stunning scenery when out walking as you yourselves found out when you did the walk to Watersmeet. We are pleased you liked the room allocated to you and liked the selection on our breakfast menu. Dogs are...

We visited on a Monday lunch time, so were not expecting much. We had the best crab and crayfish linguini I have ever tasted! I recomend the cheese platter, plenty to share between two and a good selection. The food was great, the staff were friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere.

Just returned having spent three nights in the Rising Sun which is a 13th century inn besides the harbour at Lynmouth. It is all low ceilings and wonky floors so it certainly is no 'plastic pub', but authentic in every way. Lovely comfy bed in room 7, very friendly staff who went out of their way to assist us, great...

A cold and windy March evening was consoled by a stay here (one night; not really enough). Lynmouth is always atmospheric and the Rising Sun adds to that atmosphere; small and boutique with pleasant service and a wonderful cosy bar. Our room was lovely, a good size, over looking the sea from a low window (floor height) and with a...

We were not staying at the Rising Sun, we went in for an evening bar meal. We were informed the bar menus were on the end of the bar. As we were by the sea we wanted fish & chips. We ordered a large glass of house white (sauvignon blanc) and a medium glass of house shiraz. Unfortunately there wasn't...
