My second overnight stay in Lynmouth this year - and this time I think (or rather I know) I hit the jackpot. The room was well appointed and spacious, with a comfortable bed; the bathroom looked recently modernised and the staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was very good too, so this time I left Lynmouth a much happier man.

Let me first say that Lynmouth is exquisitely scenic and, together with Lynton, the most dog-loving place I've ever visited. From shop keeper to Inn keeper my spaniel and I were enthusiastically welcomed and treated with genuine warmth and friendliness. With one exception . The manager at the Rising Sun Hotel would do well to follow the example set by...

Attracted by the exterior we popped in for an early evening pint, despite those standing drinking at the bar seeing we were trying to view what the various beers were on each of the pumps they just stood there, two dogs on leads added complications to our quest. When we finally gained the attention of the barman he grudgingly listed...

My husband and I and another couple took a drive over from the White Horse Inn in Exford on the recommendation of a member of staff. We weren't disappointed. Food and service were great - we even managed some free parking out front.

Thank you to the Whitehorse for recommending us as a place to visit in Lynmouth. Judging by your lovely comments about the food and service you were not disappointed. Excellent hotel. Would highly recommend it. We stayed for a romantic anniversary break. It's well situated and the food is fabulous. We had a room with a sea view, which was well worth the extra. Very old cottage feel to the place, ideal for couples. Not great for those with mobility issues due to uneven floors, to be expected from...

Had two nights at The Rising Sun and what a beautiful hidden gem of a location. Quaint little rooms, which were very comfortable with a recently modernised bathroom provided an excellent base for some cycling.
