This is a lovely old hotel - the outside needs a little work - but the rooms and public areas are well decorated - the staff are excellent and the breakfast was fabulous - it is well positioned near to the city centre and The Hoe - I would certainly stay when next in the area -

I would give this 1 star if not for the friendly staff. It needs a makeover. Looks tired and old. Very small bathrooms. Mattress was old with horrible springs. Location is ok within walking distance to the Hoe and mayflower steps

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights for a wedding being held at the hotel. Even before we arrived on the Friday the service was fantastic. We love that they let us bring our pet dog for only a £10/night supplement and we were blown away to find a treat box on the bed in our room that included...

Attended here as part of a conference gala dinner. The food was fine, although nothing special, however I suspect this is more a function of the conference budget than the actual menu. The bar serves a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits including local tipples. The staff are diligent and certainly earned their keep. All round a decent night...

First of all it's important to say the Duke of Cornwall is a beautiful hotel, really lovely. But.... We booked to have our family Mothers Day celebration at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, was looking forward to it as I remember the food used to be good there. However, the meal was very mediocre mothers day meal, overpriced with luxury...

Company booked me this.... so a change from prem inn style. First impressions... wow! Lovely , almost royal in appearance. On check in I asked about breakfast as I had an early appointment... 7 is the earliest, else it's the continental tray to the room game. (Boo !) Strike 1. Room 309 shocking.... Ok decor etc but no direct access...

Visited the Best Western Duke of Cornwall for one night. The proximity to the centre is great and the service is good but my room was freezing and tired looking. I ordered room service which was poor. I was given the wrong dessert options twice before they had to come to my room with the actual menu. Room was cheap......

Not a brilliant stay. We happened to pick the night that Billy Ocean was in Plymouth - clearly a bad choice! The room was a good size but the shower didn't work and the toilet wasn't too good at flushing more than once! Billy Ocean somehow meant that bar snacks were all delayed - the quickest we could be served...

We stayed one night and were pleasantly surprised. I like, other reviewers, love old hotels with character. Room was on the 5th floor very clean, spacious and comfortable. There weren't any spaces left in the car park but that was because of a wedding and a party being held. You can park for free on the road from 4pm until...

Interesting location and hotel. Room clean, well decorated and airy. Generally pretty much as expected BUT .... Shower in room non-operational Toilet flush faulty Told that it was at least an hour to get food as there was a local event and the main restaurant was busy (not obvious why this affected the bar though)! Discussed problems with check-out staff...
