We recently stayed for a week in this hotel. It is on a main road but the noise level is low.
Our room was a spacious suite with separate lounge from the bedroom & bathroom and had two sets of patio windows with outdoor furniture provided.
The suite was beautiful, very elegant and clean.
The suite contained a fridge and a courtesy tray with refreshments provided. Breakfast was offered extra but we didn’t partake but saw a note from another room one morning thanking the hosts for a lovely breakfast.
The suite wasn’t serviced during our stay due to covid but we were instructed to leave notes in reception with our requests such as clean towels, toilet roll etc and they were put outside our room for later. There was also cleaning spray provided in the bathroom to keep things fresh and clean.
The hosts were very nice and could not do enough for us.
The location is a good 15 / 20 minute walk to the marina and is down hill going. There is an excellent regular bus service for coming back if you need a help with the hills if you don’t drive into town.
Off road parking is provided free of charge and each room has a space provided.
We really enjoyed our stay in this gem of a hotel and would stay again.

Just returned from a stay with my boyfriend at the Ascot House Hotel. We were lucky enough to find this gem on Expedia for a 3 night stay as all other b&b’s and hotels were either full or ridiculously priced. I can honestly say this b&b was more than comfortable and at a bargain price!

The owner was friendly, attentive and always happy to see you! She has recently taken over this hotel which was built in 1840 and has had 2 previous owners and in my opinion is doing a fantastic job!

The room wasn’t serviced during our stay as the b&b is still abiding by covid guidelines, however this made it feel like a much more self-contained apartment than anything which was great! If you needed anything, all you need do was request and this would be placed outside of your room on your return.

Breakfast was available upon request which we did take advantage of on our departure morning for £10pp (what you expect to pay in a b&b). It was served on the lower floor with the patio doors open and included fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast and a cooked breakfast. If my boyfriend enjoys the breakfast, then you know you’re on to a winner!

Our ‘sea view suite’ was a lovely size and my boyfriend took advantage of the view from the lounge window each morning with a cuppa! The bed was fantastic and had a memory foam mattress with a duck & down type quilt. The room included a fridge which came in handy for storing drinks.

It was only a 10 minute walk into the centre so is in a great location and had free parking! If you know Torquay, then you know parking can be an absolute nightmare so this place is a little treasure.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we’d definatley recommend and would also consider staying again in the future!

Lovely hotel, very friendly owners. Room absolutely as described. We were in the Junior Suite (room 4). Great to have a seperate living room space as well as the bedroom. TV in both rooms, fridge in the livinng room along with tea and coffee facilities. These were well stocked and a pint of milk provided rather than the little pots of uht milk when restocked. Due to the Covid restrictions rooms werent serviced during our stay but towels let outside the room were changed if required and any other things required were restocked if we left a note on the hall table or spoke with the owners. Masks worn in the public areas, hand gel at the entrance door and in the lobby area, very safe.
Very comfy beds, good thick curtains for a decent lie in on a morning too. Not advertised as having a seaview, but you could see the cruise ships docked in the bay without having to climb a ladder lol. Towels, bedding, the room itself, bathroom all very very clean.
Stay again? Definitely. Didnt partake of breakfast as we like to get out and about and are not really breakfast people.

Sadly the owner ruined this experience for us, and the memory of it.

What was inexcusable was the whole attitude, rudeness and aggressiveness from the owner. Replying to a review elsewhere, she messaged us to say that "customers like us" aren't welcome there. What, exactly, do they mean by "us"?

On the day of check out, the owner started banging loudly on the door before 10.30am. My partner opened the door, and was rudely asked when we were leaving. She said shortly, and was told "no, you need to leave now I have guests coming to check in early soon", incorrectly saying that check out was at 10am and stormed off upstairs. The check out was definitely at 10.30am, which she told us on check in and was also printed in the room itself. This led to some distress, which ruined our morning and delayed us leaving.

On one evening, there was absolutely no hot water coming from the shower or the sink. When challenged about this afterwards, the owner said that there must be because all the hot water for the building came from the same place - she effectively accused us of lying. Both my partner and I had tested the water, it was ice cold.

The heating is only on during certain hours, so you cannot have it on later in the evening as it is controlled centrally.

To their credit, the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. It's in a good location too, just 10 minutes from the town centre. There are things that could be improved, for example having a shower door rather than curtain, and the wardrobe was in the bathroom rather than the bedroom which was inconvenient. There was also no toiletries, bar some shower gel in the shower cubicle.

The rooms are not currently serviced, but you can leave towels and cups outside to be washed.

The car park is very tight, because it's on a tight hill with a wall on one side and bollards on the other that you have to navigate.

To note, the hotel across the road is currently being used for social housing. This meant it could get loud at night, with people outside drinking.

I don't know whether they were just having a tough week, but this shouldn't be taken out on guests paying full price, trying to support the hospitality sector, who had raised valid issues with their stay.

We had a great stay at this wonderful boutique B&B. Terri and Bernard were charming and friendly hosts. The accommodation in the deluxe suite was very comfortable, spacious and well furnished. The breakfasts were very good with a bowl of freshly prepared fruit a nice touch.
We were given a bottle of Prosecco to welcome in the New Year which was a lovely surprise.
We would recommend this hotel and would definitely return if we return to Torquay sometime in the future.

Response from AscotHouseHotel, Owner at Ascot House Hotel
Responded Jan 22, 2020
We’re delighted you chose Ascot House to celebrate the start of this new decade and that we lived up to your expectations. As I write, we have retired and no longer own Ascot House, after 12 years making it what it is. It is now in excellent hands and we wish the very best to the new owners, Heather and Colin Bolt, who we know will continue where we’ve left off.

We booked 3 rooms for family and friends visit. All the rooms had there own style and each had there own lounge area.
I stayed in the gothic suite and it was just perfectly decorated and I love the french style furniture in the bedroom. It had a balcony with table and chairs.
It was a few mins in the car or cab to the harbour or a 10-15min walk.
Heather the owner was lovely and welcoming and the room was well stocked with a fridge, milk and refreshments. I would definitely stay here again as great value for money and the only down side is that we only stayed for 2 days and not longer.

Had a lovely stay, blessed with beautiful September sunshine every day. This was our first time in Torquay for some 25 years and it was nice to revisit places like Babbacombe, Cockington, Brixham and Goodrington sands.

The hotel owners are very welcoming and our room was well furnished with a more than comfy bed. There was also the added benefit of a large fridge. Tea, coffee and milk were also supplied and would be restocked on request. Breakfast was not included in the price but is offered as an extra.

The hotel is located halfway between the town centre and the seafront. About a 15 minute walk in either direction. There is a bakery nearby which makes some delicious cakes!

All in all it was a very rewarding and enjoyable stay.

We ventured away for a little break and well aware and conscious of doing so with Covid 19. The hosts were lovely and very informative and the room was beautiful, clean and stylish. The bathroom of our suite was stunning with a roll top bath which was perfect for relaxing.

Sadly due to restrictions (and the fact the hosts have taken all the covid restrictions seriously which we appreciated) we were unable to have the breakfast, however they did offer a 'breakfast on the go' should we have wished to take them up on it.

It was a 15 minute pleasant walk to the town centre and there were lots of restaurants and bars to choose from and some lovely views.

If we ever come to Torquay again, we will 100% stay here.

A rare hotel with living rooms in each suite in England. Feeling like at home but better than home. Clean and tidy with beautiful smell. The decor is wonderfully designed. Breakfast is fantastic, full of choices, full English breakfast, fruits, juice, cereal, yoghurt, coffee/tea, toast and butter are all free flow. A joy to stay. Strongly recommend it.

安静舒适的房间,客厅,座在阳台喝上一杯酒后,能让你美美的睡上觉,丰富的早餐和热情服务、免费的向导,愉快的度过一个假期!
