If you’ve been looking for hotels near the seafront in Devon, then you’ll love our Premier Inn Torquay Seafront hotel. As well as being right next to Torre Abbey Sands – one of the most popular beaches in Torquay – you’ll find plenty of exciting things to do nearby, from visiting the animals at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, to exploring local history at the Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves. Plus, visiting the rides and amusements on Paignton Pier is a must on family holidays in Torquay. There's two parts to our Premier Inn Torquay Seafront hotel - the historic building, and the modern annexe, which are connected to each other by a short, covered walkway. Whichever section you're staying in, though, you can look forward to enjoying scenic short breaks in Devon with us, tucking into delicious meals in our tasty Beefeater restaurant and relaxing in a super-comfy bed.

The Premier Inn Torquay Seafront Hotel boasts a prime seafront location, widely appreciated by guests for its proximity to the beach and town center. While many travelers admire the spacious rooms with scenic sea views, there are mixed feelings about the hotel's value, as the additional costs for amenities such as parking and early check-in have drawn criticism. Moreover, service quality appears to be a hit or miss, with some staff members receiving accolades for their helpfulness, whereas others seem to fall short in responsiveness. Despite generally clean rooms, calls for better maintenance in some areas have been noted.

This trip was for 4 nights, just a wee break for my husband and I.
The location was perfect, beautiful lights and sea view. The hotel itself seems a little dated, old building, but the staff in the hotel and the restaurant were super nice, we didn't need to bother the hotel staff with much, we are easily pleased, but I'm sure if we had to, they would be more than happy to help. They have a very slow lift, but if stairs are an issue then that's the best option. They have plenty of tea and coffee. As we went in the cold season, the room would warm up nicely, but the bathroom was constantly freezing, so I would just turn up the heating and leave the bathroom door open for the heat to cross.
The beds were comfy as were the pillows, but as I said before the building is dated, but no bother, for the price I want going to complain.

I would definitely recommend staying here, the location is within walking distance to the local town, the staff are friendly, the view is beautiful.

Stayed at the Premier Inn as two couples so this review is jointly contributed by both.
At check in we were disappointed to find that we did not get a sea view as per our emailed request. The receptionists opinion was unhelpful- basically take it or leave it. We had rooms 419/420 which was quite a walk from reception and the restaurant. We all agree with previous comments about an unpleasant fusty smell down the corridor.
To combat this, we took to walking up through the car park and in a side entrance.

We found it best to park the car up for our full holiday and walk or use public transport to get about the area as the car parking is very limited at the Premier inn. It is free to residents but it is a payable public car park too.

Our room 419 was large, clean and comfortable with a bath and overhead shower. Loved the fluffy towels. Sadly, high shrubbery outside the window prevented us from a side sea view.
We fully appreciated that housekeeping was not allowed into the rooms and all happy to be self sufficient during the pandemic.
Any additional toiletries, towels and pillows (you are initially supplied one each) you request at reception. You are asked to bag up used towels and trash and leave to be collected outside your room. This was quickly collected.
Both couples were disappointed to find only two tea, coffee and pots of milk in reach room so you immediately had to trail back to reception.
We chose to eat elsewhere in the evenings but had breakfast at the hotel most mornings. You have to prebook your preferred time at reception to avoid disappointment.
Covid measures were excellent at breakfast and staff should be commended in their cleanliness.
You can still eat as much as you like but its no longer self service. You follow the one way system to the counter/s and the server will fill your plate. There are two prices, full breakfast or continental.
Overall, we found the Premier Inn to be a solid stay given the current difficult times but a sea view as requested would have made us feel our custom was valued. Given the Premier inns location and level of comfort, both couples voted to return next year.

It is a bit of a walk to the annex along a corridor which on the first night of my stay did not appear to be heated and was in need to a little TLC. The room was OK, smaller than most Premier Inns, the bathroom cold which I dealt with by putting the room heating on high and leaving the bathroom door open to get some warmth into it. I appreciate that very few of the rooms have a sea view and my room had a view over the municipal car park and was quite dark. The housekeeping staff to their credit seemed to do a good job. I had the impression that the place was a bit short staffed, arriving at the bar to be served the lad serving was called away by a rather impolite member of staff leaving me standing there. He returned about 5 minutes later, to serve me needless to say I didn't stay long. The location is very useful for the station and is about a 10 to 15 minute walk into town, bus stops are close by and the bus service is both very good and reasonably priced. The roads by the hotel are not at all pedestrian friendly and seem to be treated as a race track. I regularly stay in PI's but this was not one of the better experiences.

We are big fans of Premier Inn as you know what you are getting for your money each time and they have some cracking cheap deals but this was the first time we tried their Premier Plus rooms and they did not disappoint.
It was the biggest hotel room we have had in the UK, it was HUGE! Windows on two sides, a sea view, top quality shower with a rain head, massive flat screen TV which angled out from the wall, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine...so worth the upgrade.
The hotel is in a great location at the end of the esplanade and the parking is cheap at £3.50 per night however the car park does get busy in the evenings as the Beefeater on site is very popular. We Parked up for our trip and did not move until we left, you are given a barcode ticket at reception to use in a machine where you scan and pay on departure.
We would certainly book a Premier Plus room again.

The hotel is situated in a central position on the sea front and if you request a sea view rooms the views are great.
Checkin was smooth and professional and all the staff were lovely throughout the hotel.
Rooms in the original part of the hotel are spacious and serviced daily they are very clean with ample supply of tea and coffee in the room.
The hotel has a large car park which is free to residents but I would imagine can be very busy a certain times of the year.
A large bar with outdoor seating area when the weather is nice.
There are plenty of nice walks on the promenade in either direction. If you wish use public transport the number 12 service runs from Newton Abbot to Brixham via Paignton and stops near the hotel.
The in-house restaurant is a Beefeater and offers good food with great service.

Stayed here for a couple of nights just to get away after so many months at home. The hotel is in a great location right by the seafront (would guess there’s sea views from a small number of rooms plus the restaurant and bar). It was a short walk across the road to the beach and the restaurants/bars on the seafront, and about 10/15 mins to the town centre.

Check in was pleasant and efficient but a long walk to my room as the hotel is spread across a main building and extension. I later found a side door with keycard access that was much easier to use.

The room was fine and looked clean, and very much as we’d all expect from a Premier Inn. The TV was small but not a big deal.

My main issue was the noise from both the floor in my room and the one above, both of which were extremely creaky. Any movement I made around my room was accompanied by continual creaks and noises, and unfortunately the same was true of the room above. On both mornings the occupants were up early, so of course I was awake too. I knew from when I checked in the hotel was full so didn’t speak to reception - without stripping the building back to the bare bones and rebuilding, I doubt it could be easily rectified.

Only other thing to note was parking. I arrived around 3.30pm and took one of the very last spaces remaining. No one seemed to go out via car in the evening so I didn’t see any spaces became available for anyone arriving later on. This was the same on the second night. There’s an overflow council pay and display next door that looked to have spaces but I’m sure most people would prefer to park on site. I notice from next week they’re due to start charging for parking so perhaps that’ll help although I’m not convinced.

Also wanted to mention and praise the restaurant team who both mornings at breakfast were working flat out to provide great service, with smiles on their faces, all whilst coping with the changes and limitations of what they could do due to Covid.

My partner & I stayed here to celebrate my birthday as we’d never been to Devon before. We loved the location as it close to shops, restaurants & right on the beach. Check in was at 4pm due to new Covid rules and we arrived around 4:30pm. The car park gets full very quickly and costs £3.50 a day. There is another council run carpark at the back of the premier inn which you can use if the premier inn one is full.

Check in ran smoothly and the staff were helpful and friendly. If you’re looking to book for breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Beefeater on site, I would highly recommend pre booking before your stay as we could only book in for dinner 1 out of 3 nights we were there for as it was fully booked. We then took a walk down to the local restaurants and everywhere was fully booked for the whole weekend! So the first night we had a fish and chip takeaway which was lovely, 2nd night we just had a really late lunch so didn’t have dinner and the 3rd night we ate in the Beefeater.
We had breakfast in the Beefeater one morning which was really nice. It was a full English and really tasty.

There’s plenty to do around the area. We went to Paignton Zoo which was a 15 min drive. We drove down to Salcombe which was 1 hour drive but was so worth it! Beautiful place. We also drove to Brixham only the way back which was around 30 mins roughly from Salcombe. Again a lovely place to walk around the harbour and we also saw the seals swimming in the sea. There was a fun fair 2 minutes from the hotel which was good fun. Also there is crazy golf next to the hotel which we really enjoyed as well.

The room wasn’t anything special but was clean and tidy which was the main thing. The bed was very comfy but room overlooked a roof which wasn’t very appealing but it was what it was. The wifi is horrendous! You can upgrade but it was £5 just for 24 hrs I believe which we didn’t want to do.
The TV was the slowest TV I’ve ever used. Took about 30 secs just to change channels. There was also only 1 plug next to the bed which didn’t work. These things weren’t something I was really unhappy about but when we’d paid £500+ for the room I’d expect these things to not be an issue. The rooms are not cleaned during your stay due to covid which was fine. A little tip - If you leave your rubbish bin outside your door each day it does get emptied which was a help.

Overall it was a lovely trip and we really enjoyed ourself especially as the sun was shining. I do feel the cost of out stay was quite expensive for a premier inn though but I would recommend staying here especially for the location.

A bit of a mixed bag this review I’m afraid
Firstly was looking forward to the super comfy Hypnos bed but my god worst night sleep ever! Was not comfy at all.
The lady(sorry didn’t catch her name) on reception was lovely and made everything straight forward for my stay.
Sarah at breakfast was brilliant very attentive nothing too much trouble was very well looked after.
If it wasn’t for the bed would give 10/10

We stayed for 1 night while visiting the Princess theatre. Hotel has its own car park which is free to residents. We were in the Annexe part of the Hotel, bit of a route march to get there if you are elderly or infirm. The rooms are excellent though, very clean and comfortable with everything you need. "Twin room" consists of a large single and a king size bed so lots of room. We had breakfast in the Beefeater Restaurant next door to the Hotel - Full English was £9.00, a little expensive, but you could have as much as you wanted, going back for seconds or thirds,or you could have a continental if you prefer. Our table had a sea view, and there was no rush to leave so all in all an excellent stay. Excellent location for bars and restaurants and all that Torquay has to offer.

We've stayed at this hotel a few times before and always enjoyed it. This time we decided to try one of the new Premier Plus rooms and were located along a corridor of the same type of rooms. Above all we were very impressed with it....lovely large rainforest shower; luxury toiletries; comfy armchair with footstool; mini fridge with complimentary bottled water, nespresso coffee machine and very plush decorations that made it look like it wasn't a standard Premier Inn room.
However what spoilt our stay immensely was the inconsiderate people banging doors loudly and having loud conversations in the corridors and in rooms around us like it was middle of the day. I can honestly say it didn't go completely quiet until well after 0130 hrs Sunday morning. Would definitely question whether we use a Premier Plus room again or even visit on a Saturday night at this location.
On the plus side it is in a great place for both town and beach and the Beefeater restaurant attached to it is a very convenient and competitively priced place to eat. We were lucky and had a sea view room albeit this time on a much lower down floor than we've been on before.

Answer from Brett H

It operates on a 1st come 1st parked basis, prices aren't too bad.

It is £3.50 per night for everyone, there are disabled bays by the main entrance but they are first come first served. A camera records your number plate as you enter and leave the car park. Reception issue you with tickets that you have to scan at the parking payment meter every time you leave the car park to make your payment.

Hello parking was not an issue but we arrived on a week day at 3 so we missed the eating times so I would suggest avoid lunch and tea times and you should get a space good luck
