The Hampton by Hilton Torquay is often commended for its cleanliness, boasting immaculate rooms and facilities, though a few guests have noted occasional lapses. While opinions on service vary, with some citing unprofessionalism, many acknowledge the staff's helpful demeanor. The hotel's modern and comfortable rooms are well-received, despite isolated complaints about odors and upkeep. Its stylish atmosphere and prime location near town and attractions are highlights for visitors. Amenities, including an excellent breakfast and convenient lift access, earn praise, but the value proposition receives mixed reviews, especially regarding on-site dining.

Lovely hotel, really enjoyed our stay. The decor is amazing, I bought a fish cushion from the Bert & Buoy display. Big thanks to Dotty, very friendly and helpful, I have named my fish cushion after her! Breakfast was so nice! Thank you to all the staff will stay again hopefully

Stayed with family for 5 nights. Location is great as you are right in the centre and within walking distance of the harbour and restaurants. Although the hotel does not have a car park at present the nearest car park was only a few minutes walk away, we brought a weeks pass which was cheaper and easier and you could use your pass for the other public car parks. Check in was quick and we stayed in room with harbour view, which was lovely. Room was clean and toiletries were included, the room was cleaned every day but not vacuumed, which would have been better, as dust did accumulate, specifically in the bathroom , understand that due to COVID cleaning was limited. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice, hot food was served to you, only downside was breakfast finished at 10.00am, needs to be a little longer during week. Hotel is new and we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Lovely new hotel. Staff so friendly, rooms cleaned every day and Covid protocols in place. Rooms are equipped with a rainforest shower which is perfect to relax you or wake you up. Nice Tv and fridge in the room. The free breakfast is a bonus too, it does get busy but it’s still a worth it. There’s a lift that takes you straight down to the harbour side and next to the Co-op should need anything. I really enjoyed my stay here, so much so I’ve booked for next year.

This hotel is in a good location, but beware the current parking issues and construction works goin on. Breakfast was ok, with a good choice of food. We weren’t told that the rooms are not made up everyday until we queried it, but they quickly provided us with fresh towels etc. There was a horrible musty lingering smell in the bathroom that didn’t go away for our whole trip. Probably wouldn’t stay here again if we went to Torquay as we were paying about £300 per night which felt quite expensive for what was just an average hotel, nothing special.

My husband and I booked a short break on a dinner bed and breakfast board.
On arrival we had a warm welcome and allocated our room on the top floor with the sea view. The room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed and sofa. It had everything you would ever need including ironing board and hairdryer. There was also tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was a good size with a fabulous shower and there was complimentary shower gel and shampoo. Only drawback was there was no shower door!
The hotel has only been open since April 2021 so everything is still sparkly clean and modern.
Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel. On offer was a hot cooked breakfast, cereal, pastries, omelettes and waffles. The only downside was no vegetarian sausages and the syrup was finished to go with my waffles with none in the kitchen. The staff worked hard at breakfast service making sure everything was topped up and cleaned away.
Dinner in the evening was another matter......... The first night service was on the slow side. I ordered the salmon and rice with sponge for dessert and my husband chose the steak with chocolate fudge cake for dessert. There were only a couple of other occupied tables so not really busy. The Friday night was a whole lot busier........ We went down for dinner at 6.30 and did not get back to our room until nearly 10pm! We were told there was only one person working in the kitchen and was cooking orders in the order they came in. The restaurant was busy and apparently there were a lot of room service orders. In the grand scheme of things we didn't have to be anywhere and relaxed in the restaurant with drinks. It was comfy with lots of cushions. Quite late on the kitchen found that there were no falafel burgers so I had to choose again, I went for pizza as it was way to cook! My husband had the steak again and we chose strawberry ice-cream and cheeseboard.
Overall we had a great stay here, it was comfortable and quiet. The management need to recruit more staff to help the hotel run more efficiently. I've only deducted a star for no parking onsite. This is due to building works I believe. We parked very close in the Harbour carpark at a cost of £8.70 for 24 hours. We used the RingGo app which made it very easy to pay via phone.
The hotel is very central to Torquay town centre and I can recommend a stay here. If we are in Torquay again I would definitely book again.

Would normally opt for one of Torquay’s more characterful hotels, but gave the newish Hampton a try as the price was good.
Right in the centre of town, a stone’s throw from the harbour. No parking on site, but public car parks within a few minutes walk. Strange that what feels like it should be the main entrance (on the main road) is actually a secondary entrance (which you can’t use until you’ve checked in, as a key card is needed). The main entrance is at the rear.
Bedroom a good size, and nicely decorated. Good sound insulation from outside - less good sound insulation between rooms. Good shower let down by lack of a towel rail in the bathroom (just a couple of hooks). Heated towel rail would be nicer, and more practical.
Good buffet breakfast included in all room rates - but let down by the number of guests wandering around the buffet stations without face masks, and with no management enforcement or encouragement. I appreciate it’s a difficult thing to enforce, but in this situation it should be a very simple message on signage on every table and at the buffet stations - “If you want to take advantage of the free buffet breakfast, you must wear a mask!”

This is a little gem of a hotel , check in was quick and friendly. We booked a sea view room as we were staying for 6 nights
Room was lovely , I believe in staying somewhere with quality standards ..this ticked the box.
Room has AC , mini fridge , tea coffee kettle , hairdryer and all toiletries , iron and board.
The gym is well equipped and has good hygiene stations in there.
The view was of the harbour , not a direct view due to the proximity of the hotel, but we could see for miles.
We were celebrating my sisters / bro in law silver wedding anniversary and I mentioned this to the front desk.
The room they had was decorated upon their arrival with petals and towel art ,which was a beautiful touch by the team at Hampton by Hilton
Breakfast was included and the choice was plentiful . Tea coffee juices, Cereals, a variety of croissants, jams spreads, fruit, yoghurt, ham , cheese, toast ,bacon , sausage scrambled egg, beans , mushrooms , hash browns.
All served in a spotless open plan dining area.
They also had a menu of the day ..with a choice of meals
We enjoyed the baked potato for lunch..and one evening we had the steak..all prepped and served beautifully .
The staff were especially helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble ..they went above and beyond to make our little staycation a memorable and comfortable one.
Parking …we bought a parking permit prior to our arrival from local-council website and parked at the harbour car park.
We used this on our trips out as well.
Thankyou to Vikki , Jackie and all the team at Hampton by Hilton . Toquay

Stayed here for 5 nights having been to Torquay previously & stayed in Grand/ Imperial /Premier/ before this without doubt this is the best for price/staff/ location. I would suggest paying for a Queen room with sofa & sea view (Room 424) is the best.

Rooms are a good size , bathroom with large shower ( minor comment to ensure good appearance is maintained to clean grout between tiles in shower to remove black mould) . Housekeeping staff friendly, efficient & flexible.

Breakfast is good self service with traditional English Breakfast & cereals , suggest the Continental selection could be slightly expanded with slices of cheese & more cold meats, and grapefruit or fruit salad would be a welcome addition.

Did not eat in Hotel in the evening so can’t comment on choice or price, 24 hour bar service available normal Hotel prices.

Overall, would highly recommend this Hotel when visiting Torquay for a break, thanks to the Reception staff for hospitality.

We stayed here for a couple of nights earlier this month.
The hotel itself is a nice hotel for the price albeit the rooms are small.
We had had problems with the servicing of our room in a Hilton in Bath the previous few days so when we got to this hotel we hoped things would be better. When we left for the day we tried to find a maid to make sure the room would be serviced but couldn't so we informed reception that we were going out and asked that the room be serviced. The receptionist (who was also attending to the bar) advised that it would. However, when we returned that evening it hadn't been done. When I queried this with the same receptionist he looked at his list and said that Housekeeping had noted a Do Not Disturb sign on the room. This was very annoying as we had obviously made sure there wasn't a Do Not Disturb on the door after all the problems we had had in Bath so we knew this was false. I strongly suspect that the maid had noted the Do Not Disturb sign earlier on prior to us leaving and hadn't returned to check it had gone and also that the receptionist hadn't updated them after me speaking to him. He wasn't particularly helpful anyway and seemed quite arrogant. Another receptionist then came up to the room and emptied the bins and brought towels.
The parking is a nightmare if you have a lot of luggage as it is at the top of a nearby hill however I understand new parking will be available in the future.
I have still given 4 stars as the rooms and public areas are nice and it's a good option if you want a modern hotel and complimentary breakfast.

We stopped for a week at the Hampton on Hilton Hotel in Torquay from 12th to 19th June 2021.
There is no parking at this hotel and unknown to us there was nowhere to drop off the luggage. Also, there were road works opposite of the hotel so was unable to stop outside without blocking the road. Had to park further up and park on double yellow lines and risk getting a fine to drop off the luggage.

The room we had was overlooking a building site which we were unaware of, I knew they were building a carpark but did not know this was directly opposite the hotel. Workmen started at 8am every Monday to Friday so little chance of lie in.

Glasses in the room were not changed daily, we had to ask the cleaner on the third day for clean glasses, The pillows in the room had not support in them. There were no biscuits in the room, and I would expect to have this in a Hampton on Hilton hotel.

We had a problem with our bill at the hotel because they tried to charge my credit card three times, I was told by the manager on reception that I would need to contact my credit card provider because according to them they had only charged me twice. This was despite showing evidence to prove three pending transactions on my credit card.

The restaurant menu was not of our liking, was more of a snack menu and mostly Asian food. We complained about the menu at reception and was told that the chef would not be in until Tuesday and we would then have a more varied menu, this did not happen.

The Breakfast was limited and overcooked, you could only get scrambled eggs. At breakfast it was self-service, we had to get our own tea and coffee and when finished had to stack our plates, cups and cutlery on a tray and stack this on the trolley. This is not the service I would expect from a brand name as Hampton on Hilton.

The breakfast buffet area was not in the same place as the seating.

The drinks at the bar were limited, we asked for lemonade, the only lemonade they had was old fashioned lemonade with the sediment at the bottom. We asked for a shandy at the bar, the bar staff did not know what a shandy was, so we had to explain what this was to then be told that they did not do this.

At no point was any assistance provided with helping us with our luggage, despite being with my mum who is 74 years old with mobility issues.

We did not feel a valued guest at the hotel. The only saving grace was of the location of the hotel.

Harbour Car Park is close by, if you have a case for a few days stay, double park and leave in reception while you park the car. The car park is to far to walk with more than a one night bag, and is down steps or a steep hill on arrival, and quite a heavy hike up steps, or a steep hill upon departing..
