We have just come back from a 2-night stay at the Haytor Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were made very welcome by the lovely hosts John & Jane. A nice cup of tea whilst we checked in served with some lovely homemade cake. We were then shown to our room (room 7) which as soon as we walked through the door we could see it would be comfortable and we were not wrong. The bed was a beautiful King Size with Egyptian cotton sheets, everything was there in the room that we needed, TV, Kettle, Tea, Coffee & biscuits, Radio Alarm with Ipod Dock, nice complimentary toiletries & mineral water. Nothing was too much trouble for our Hosts, we were given some great recommendations for places to eat. The hotel is ideally located with just a 5-minute walk to Torquay Harbour. Breakfast is served in a light airy room with nice views. Lots of choice of hot & cold options with fresh fruit and cereals, Toast of any type all served with a smile. I'd recommend the cooked breakfast made with local produce, it will set you up for the day. We will definitely be back. A lovely hotel with a great welcome from John & Jane.

My Wife and I stayed here last night (7th July) as part of a trip to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. Understandably we were a bit apprehensive as first stay anywhere post lockdown but as soon as we walked in you could see the attention to detail and the thoroughness which relaxed us immediately. This is a stunning hotel, from the immaculate gardens and the fascinating carved tree to the beautifully decorated house and genuinely lovely husband and wife who run it. Really reasonable for drinks (Have them in the garden). My wife is gluten intolerant and vegetarian so often this can cause some issues, not here, everything was reassuringly checked and everything made so easy, separate toasters and food preparation area. Absolutely recommend staying here to anyone who has any dietary requirements. The room was completely up to date, appreciated the sensible number of sockets to charge our kit up and the shower is exactly what you need after a busy day. Breakfast was all locally sourced and every single thing was delicious. If you can't tell already I'm really impressed and planning our next trip so we can do this all over again.

Fantastically located just a really short walk from the Harbor area, Jane and John have developed one of the welcoming 'small hotels' I've ever stayed in. With fine linens, great beds and a range of different rooms, the stay was topped off with one of the best breakfasts you could ask for.

However, the main reason I cannot wait to return to this near perfect location and super venue is the Hosts who make all the guests feel welcome and comfortable. I am totally fussy, and was most disappointed not to be able to complain about a thing. Great 3 night stay, wish we could have stayed longer.

Thanks again, David and Paul

What a superb little hotel this is, you receive a very warm welcome from your excellent host's Jane and John with a fresh brew and a piece of just baked delicious cake. We stayed in room 7 which is a standard room but was large enough and tastefully decorated with plenty of room for all your storage needs, coffee and tea facilities available with a selection of tasty biscuits. The large bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept really well, also we had the window open all night and the only thing we heard were Owls tweeting for about ten minutes early evening. A nice small but perfectly adequate en-suite filled with toiletries for your use, fresh towels whenever you wanted them. There is a small bar and all prices were very reasonable, I can recommend their signature cocktail, very refreshing. The breakfast was simply outstanding, the choice and standard of products were some of the best we have come across from our travels. If your looking for somewhere to stay in Torquay please take my advice and see if you can book in here, I promise you you wont regret it.

I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B for 5 nights.

The location is great. Near enough to the harbour area, but far enough out so you are not disturbed by people leaving pubs, etc. My room overlooked the garden to the side with a pond and several tree sculptures which were nice to look at.

John and Jane who own and run the B&B are very friendly and approachable. I was impressed when I checked in and asked if there was any peppermint tea and after checking the kitchen cupboards, John went to the shop and bought some so I could enjoy a nice cuppa.

You have a fantastic choice at breakfast from cereals, fruit, fruit juices, continental, to the usual British staple, The Full English which was delicious with top quality items.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Torquay, to stay here.

My husband booked a surprise night away and I have to say he honestly couldn’t have picked a better place! As soon as we arrived John and Jane were so friendly and welcoming. We were greeted by tea, cake and a friendly chat - three of my most favourite things! They made us feel very comfortable and were more than happy to recommend places to eat, visit etc which was very useful. The whole place is beautifully done and feels really homely from the moment you step through the front door. Our room was lovely. Clean, comfortable and again tastefully decorated. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. There’s a great choice of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal etc. Lots to choose from on the cooked breakfast menu too, which I must say was cooked to perfection. I’ve honestly never come across a hotel that manages to get absolutely everything right but John and Jane really do! If you did manage to find something wrong (which I find it hard to believe you could) I have no doubt that John and Jane would go above and beyond to sort any issues out. They honestly put their hearts and souls into this place and it really does shine through. Thank you for having us, if we’re ever looking to stay in Torquay or nearby in the future we will 100% be staying with you guys! We both wish you all the very best xx

We stayed at the Haytor hotel on a short trip to Torquay a few nights back. It’s in a great location and there was ample parking on site. The hotel is decorated really nicely and there’s a lovely, spacious, sunny garden with seating, flowers and sculptures to look at. They have made a huge effort with cleanliness and safety measures to lower Covid risks, but without losing that warm and welcoming feel. The room was very comfortable, with colourful pictures, good wardrobe hanging space, tea and coffee things, and a great walk-in shower. The highlight for me was breakfast - loads of choice, friendly service and a brilliant full english with quality produce cooked perfectly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

It was a one night business trip booked at the last minute.

Everything was as it should be, there were no negatives.

It was charged sensible room rates.

There was plenty of secure on site (free) parking, the rooms and public areas were extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean with beds, shower etc etc all in well maintained working order.

Wi-Fi was free and functioning perfectly

Good quality wall hung (new) Samsung TVs in rooms with full signal.

Internal decoration was neutral, modern and calming and in extremely well maintained good order

The owners were professional, polite and extremely pleasant and rightly very proud of their hotel.

The effort and care they have put in is certainly shows

The cooked breakfast was exceptional; as much as you wanted it was well cooked to order and personal guest preference with quality local ingredients.

All in all even though only a very short business stay over we struck very lucky finding this establishment.

I’ve never been to Torquay before and probably won’t need to go again but if I did I would be to stay here .....and if you are planning a stay check this hotel out!

What an absolute pleasure it was to stay at the Haytor Hotel.

Situated In a perfect position close to the marina and the centre of Torquay with all that it has to offer one way and the beautiful meadfoot beach with its beautiful views the other way.

It’s obvious from the start that the hotel and grounds are much loved by the owners John and Jane and their team as this shows in the attention to detail from the finely manicured gardens to the immaculately kept bedrooms and everything in between.

Breakfast is excellent with a large range of choice and as much or as little as you wanted and everything cooked to perfection.

There is adequate parking for all guests onsite

We stayed in room 9 for 7 nights, a lovely Premier King en-suite room with one of the most comfortable beds that we have ever slept in and that coupled with the fact that the room was lovely and quiet ensured a good nights sleep.

There was a good strong and hot shower

The rooms benefits from adequate electrical and USB charging points

Tea and coffee provided in the room along with biscuits and a couple of bottles of water provided daily.

A lovely stay

Highly recommended

Darren & Eileen

Visited Torquay and again stayed at The Haytor. We have stayed here many times and really wouldn't to stay anywhere else in Torquay as it meets our needs perfectly. John and Jane, the owners, are wonderful hosts, very friendly and attentive. They have implemented stringent anti Covid protection reccomendations - hand sanitzsers everywhere, staggered breakfast sittings, choice of room cleaning options etc. At no time did we feel unsafe at the Haytor and we really enjoyed our visit as a result. This was our second visit this year and we shall certainly be back again.
