The Haytor hotel is a very friendly hotel with lovely comfortable beds and a nice little bar for a night cap. The breakfast is perfectly cooked and served quickly and efficiently. The local attractions and bars are within easy walking distance and downhill from the hotel, there are taxi ranks near the harbour and the fare is only about £3...

We stayed here last week on a family trip to Devon and Cornwall. All 4 of us, including 2 fussy teenagers, agreed that overall, this was the best all round hotel we stayed in and the other 3 were really good too! Firstly the welcome and service. Absolutely second to none. The guys who run this hotel went out of...

Many thanks for taking time to review a review and we are pleased you all enjoyed your stay. For other readers, we think Mum and Dad had a double, whilst the younger members of the party (we have a minimum age of 12 by the way), shared a Premier Twin. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found the...

We booked this hotel as a last minute thing to visit a friend, The hotel and staff could not be faulted. lovely attractive building, and furnishings. We were greeted immediately and the owner was very pleasant, professional and helpful. Handing us a map and information about Torquay. We only stayed overnight but the room was well appointed (standard double) and...

Just come back from two nights in this hotel. The room was clean and had everything you need for a comfortable stay and the breakfast was very nice. The hotel is minutes from the centre of Torquay and the wonderful Orange Tree which is a must if you if like fine dining.

Many thanks for taking the time to review us and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We also agree the Orange Tree is a fabulous restaurant and our guest's top four are the Orange Tree, the Old Vienna, No7 Fish Bistro, and the Elephant. Sometimes, it's not a good idea to go the the #1 TripAdvisor-rated hotel. Sometimes, the hotel has already gotten used to being #1 and it disappoints. But, as for the Haytor, it fully deserves its top-notch rating. The hosts are charming, the rooms are nicely appointed, the building is steeped in history, and the breakfast is excellent. Well done!

We'd stayed here earlier this year. The service was excellent. The room was lovely and the breakfast was really nice. Very close to lots of nice restaurants and some nice walks so a perfect base for Torquay.

A beautiful hotel that is spotlessly clean, towels were white and fluffy, Very elegantly decorated. Roger and Peter were very friendly and helpful. Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind comments. For future readers, it's probably worth noting that the hotel has rooms on three floors (Ground, First and Second), and being a based around an 1853 Gentleman's private residence, does not have a lift. If you would like to avoid the top floor, then call...

Stayed for two nights. Good location & plenty of on site parking. As we checked in we were given lots of very useful information I.e. the £2 return Brixham ferry & the 'Hole in the Wall' oldest inn in Torquay - a unique place full of character & a great meal too. The Haytor was spotlessly clean & very comfortable....

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind comments. As you mention, your stay coincided with a heatwave and combined with being a top floor room, whiklst we are never going to complain about dawn to dusk sunshine, this will have made it little warmer in the room than we would have hoped.
