Covid19 controls and safety of guests are excellently maintained and cleanliness standards exceptional. Sanitising stations for hands are on entering the hotel, in the reception and the entrance to the dining room. All rooms are steam sanitised after each occupancy. Food service in accordance with the government guidance and overall we were very reassured.

The breakfast was outstanding - choices were many, fruits, cereals, yoghurts, enough toast to sink a battleship but the mainstay full English was one of the very best we've ever had. Excellent local produce cooked to perfection.

You never left the table feeling empty.

Our room was tastefully decorated, felt light, airy and very fresh. Very comfortable bed, tv & dvd player, mini fridge, hair dryer, wardrobe with ample matched hangers, radio alarm, bedside lamps and trouser stand.

Ensuite shower with cotton towelling changed daily was exceptionally clean with every facility including toilet and wash basin with lit mirror for easy shaving.

Overall, our hosts could not have been more helpful, considerate or warmly welcoming.

They even joined in our wedding anniversary celebration with the gift of a bottle of wine - warmly received!

An excellent holiday break. Suffice to say we've booked for next year.

What a fantastic find! We were delighted when we reached The Crowndale, we were greeted by a beautiful floral display and we received such a warm welcome from the owners Pat & John.
There was hand sanitiser at the main entrance and we immediately felt at ease after the worry about travelling with the current Coronavirus situation.
Our room was beautifully decorated and dressed, I loved the tea box and everything was well stocked and fresh drinking water was provided daily in the in room fridge.
They even have fans in the bedrooms and lots of extra little touches.
The breakfast was superb and all served hot and fresh.
There was a beautiful sun terrace at the rear which was lovely to sit on in the evening and we had a lovely chat to other guests, we loved the friendliness.
Pat and John have fantastic recommendations for places to dine and visit. We found everything was within walking distance,
We highly recommend and will definitely return and next time book direct too,
Thank you both for a fantastic week, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Our room was huge and there was a huge 6 foot bed which was very comfy. The wet room was really roomy and everywhere was immaculate, The hosts were extremely friendly and explained everything we needed to know.
Breakfast was delicious with so much choice, it really set you up for the day,
We would highly recommend and definitely return later in the year,

Just returned from a great 5 day stay at the Crowndale. The owners John and Pat are a lovely couple who really make you feel at home and nothing is too much trouble for them. They advised us of places to eat and each recommendation was excellent. We stayed in the ground floor room which was large, beautifully decorated, had a really comfy bed and a large wet room. The towels were changed everyday, tea and coffee replenished as was the fresh milk and 2 bottles of water which were in the room fridge. There was even a bottle of wine with 2 glasses and a tin with homemade chocolate brownies in it on the dressing table on our arrival. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has the benefit of a car park. The breakfast was cooked to perfection by John and if you didn’t want a full English you just had to ask and he would cook you anything you asked for. The hotel is in an ideal position to walk to the seafront or into the town centre. We would not hesitate to recommend the Crowndale and wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we next go to Torquay. Thank you John and Pat for a lovely holiday.

John and Pat are lovely welcoming hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Little touches in the room (like a fridge, a corkscrew...) made it all so much easier. The breakfasts were cooked well without excess grease and included a choice of fruit, yoghurt or cereal, as well as fruit juice. Downsides: the room was a bit small (an en suite having been created out of it, most likely) so that if we were in the room we had lie on the bed. Though it was a reasonable walk down to the beach, eateries were not much in evidence nearby, most being at the harbour end of town. We particularly enjoyed the absence of children.

We were lucky to be able to attend a conference last weekend,
We were greeted by the hosts Pat and John with a lovely pot of tea and a friendly welcoming chat,
Our room was on the first floor and was spotlessly clean, everything was sparkling,
The Kingsize bed was so comfortable and lovely Ensuite
Pat and John definitely take pride in everything they do, everything was beautifully presented.
There was even hand Sanitizer for all guests to use in the main reception area.
Everyone else staying were all repeats and one thing is for sure, we will definitely be returning later in the year,
Well done to you both we were very impressed!
Take care and stay safe,
Miles & Rina, xx

We have got to fully agree with all previous reviews of this hotel. It more than met our expectations. After a long journey from the West of Scotland over a few days, we arrived to be met by our hosts Pat and John. They offered us coffee which they had with us in the breakfast room . They then gave us a run down of the hotel plus the surrounding area. They were most welcoming and friendly. Although the ground floor room with the wet room shower was not available that evening they did offer to move us there the following day, storing our luggage in the lounge area. This was most appreciated. There was such a good atmosphere within the hotel as all guests were friendly which made for a good start to the day. There was no uncomfortable silences within a small dining room. Thanks again to Pat, Sarah and John for their hospitality. After driving such a distance we did not really want to do any more getting around Torquay . John took us in his car around the area showing us the bus stops and giving us the appropriate bus numbers. We used this service every day getting a £5 day ticket hop on and off - excellent value. All in all we had a very different holiday but an enjoyable one

Once again the reception was as warm and welcoming as before.
Pat and John, our hosts, have a beautiful hotel which remains a pleasure to stay in.

Our room, (2), is bright and really well presented with a very comfortable king size bed, dressing table, twin bedside tables and a comfortable lounge chair.

The TV is very up to date and clothes storage consists of a large wardrobe with matched hangers and multiple drawers in the dressing table.

The bathroom is spotless, well proportioned with a soft close W.C., great shower, brightly lit washbasin with every acutrement you could need. Beautiful cotton towels and shower mat changed daily.

Mini fridge stocked with fresh milk and reusable water bottles replenished daily. Ample tea and coffee making facilities, champagne, wine and beer glasses make up the facilities for a special holiday.

The hotel is in a quiet road within easy walking distance of Torre Abbey, Torquay seafront and station and is close to bus routes accessing the whole of the Torbay area.

The hotel also has a small car park for 4 cars.

Overall, this hotel is worth it's best of the best rating!!

Oh, and the breakfast is legendary and the choices are excellent!

Can't wait for next year's stay.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Crowndale. Loved everything about the hotel from the warm friendly owners, Pat and John, the really comfy and spacious room, number 5, the plentiful breakfasts, no problem parking and the location was fine for us as we do not have any mobility issues and enjoyed walking into the centre of Torquay. All the Covid 19 measures were adhered to by staff and guests so we felt very safe. Pat and John are great hosts and go out of their way to help guests whether it's help with travel directions or advice on the best places to eat out. They even gave us an anniversary card and a bottle of wine which we thought was a lovely touch. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to return ourselves one day.

We have just had an amazing 7 night stay at The Crowndale and loved every minute of it.
The owners Pat and John are such a lovely couple.
It was a Beautiful hotel with lovely clean fresh rooms and a lovely floral garden and Elegant sun terrace where we sat and relaxed in the afternoon with our glass of wine and a book.
The location was great with a car park and roadside parking it was an ideal spot to walk to the beach and town centre.
The breakfast was delicious and set you up for the day, it was very Covid safe and great value, we highly recommend The Crowndale to everyone,
