Located in its own grounds in a quiet residential area, the Trecarn hotel is just a short stroll from the Babbacombe Downs and the delightful village of St Marychurch. The ground floor public areas of the hotel were the subject of an extensive refurbishment which has been very well received by our guests. The hotel now benefits from well-appointed lounge areas, large entertainment suite and bar. The restaurant has been completely re-styled and now offers a spacious and contemporary dining experience. After enjoying the renowned entertainments the hotel has to offer, you should also sleep better than ever as we have also refurbished 62 of the hotel's bedrooms! The Trecarn Hotel is ideally placed for exploring the surrounding area of Torbay and the delightful South Devon Coast. There is an excellent bus service taking you to town centre and beyond.

Hotel is slowly being renovated. Some rooms good others poor.
Breakfast was average English but Evening meal was poor. Not much choice on the
buffet, All veg was tinned or frozen. Not a fresh one all week. Economical use of staff
ie, only one lad clearing tables, nobody checking

We’re just on the way home from a 3 night dinner, bed and breakfast stay in this hotel which is part of the Britannia Hotels group.
We’d never been to this one before but expected a certain standard as we’ve used Britannia Hotels a lot. After actually reading the reviews on the w

Just got back from a weekend break at Trecarn Hotel, after reading the reviews, I was not looking forward to it at all, but it was just the opposite to what I was expecting, there were 6 in our party, we all had a brilliant time, the staff were all very helpful and nothing too mu

I have never been anywhere so disgusting in my entire life!! The Reception Area left a lot to be desired and going up the stairs it was dirty and smelly. When we got to the room we could not believe it! The carpet was filthy and a health and safety issue as was very 'ruckled'. Th

what has this hotel got bad comments on it
It’s tired in places but no where near as bad as people are saying . The bedrooms are dated but clean the dining room and main area are in the middle of refurbishing and there’s loads of new carpets been fitted . There’s a bus stop at the top of the street about 20 yards from the hotel and the fares a cheap so no problem getting about . It’s as good or as bad as you make it we though .

I will be staying at the Trecarn in january for 4 nights but i am getting concerned reading most of the reviews. One even suggests beg bugs. i am not expecting the Ritz for what i payed but surely there must be standards. Can anyone advise me. Is this hotel seriously a no go?
This hotel is very run down, but quite clean.Very busy when we went (Coach Hol) We had probs with first three rooms we were offered, but eventually were put in a newly re furnished room suitable for a disabled person. The dining room staff appeared to lack leadership. Food was OK.

Is entry into the hotel and all other areas wheelchair accessible.I don't use a wheelchair but I do use a collapsible electric scooter. When folded it is no larger than a large suitcase and in use is about as long as a wheelchair and as wide as I am(Not very wide !!) so I can manage a normal doorway with ease. If we Book there would be a party of four so your reply will help us choose a date.Thank you.
wouldn't recommend it whilst we were there many people seemed to be having problems with getting to the upper floors

5 star you gave it are you the owner by any chance its not as bad ad a lot make out but sure aint 5 star
I'm not the owner, but stayed there on a National Express Holiday. The hotel is not 5 star, but gave us a very good service. Food was of decent quality. The room was clean and the bedding and towels changed daily. The staff we found to be very helpful. When we stayed there, there were 5 coach loads, and considering the demands they must have had to deal with, they passed with flying colours for me. Would definitely stay there again. If they were as bad as some of the reviews posted, National Holidays would remove their custom.
