We were greeted by Anita our host she was very welcoming, the hotel is located in an ideal position a short walk from the sea front and shops. The bedroom had been refurbished with A Smart TV tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge with water and fresh milk these we changed daily, one nice touch was the flowers and fruit in our room. The shower room was spacious, which included a toilet and washbasin toiletries were provided. You had to choose breakfast the day before, there was plenty of choice, the food was of a high quality it was very tasty. The introduction of having a tea and coffee machine for breakfast is excellent, with plenty of choice, we enjoyed the various coffees.
We hope to be returning next year, thank you Anita for making our stay very enjoyable.

We stayed at the Abbeyfield for 3 nights, and it was everything you could ask for in a Guest House.

The owners Anita and David are very friendly and welcoming and made every effort to ensure we had everything we needed.

The room itself (we had room 3) was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. We had a seating area in addition to the bedroom and 2 TVs which we weren’t expecting.

For breakfast there was a lot of choice, from full English (with local fresh eggs and butcher’s sausages) to Croissants and Granola. Anita was able to make the perfect soft boiled, fried and poached eggs (we didn’t try the scrambled). The granola, Greek yogurt and honey pot was my favourite but the fruit salad was amazing too.

A big plus point for us was the parking, the Abbeyfield has a private car park so we didn’t have to worry about finding a parking space.

Location wise, it is less than a 10 minute (slow) walk to the sea front where the bars and restaurants are.

We had a fantastic long weekend and will definitely be returning to the Abbeyfield.

We received a lovely warm welcome on our arrival and this continued throughout our weekend stay. The hotel was easy to find and is well situated. It's around 10 minutes from the beach and seafront and a further 10 minutes on from there to the harbour, bars, restaurants and shopping centre.

Our room was well presented, clean and had lovely toiletries and a well-stocked tea/coffee station. There was filtered water too. Our room overlooked the very pretty and quiet garden which guests are encouraged to use however you wish (ie to enjoy a takeaway or drinks)

But the best part of the holiday, aside from our kind and attentive host, was the breakfast. Wow! The delicious Full English was a real treat and great way to start the day. Because of these current times there wasn't a buffet so guests are invited to complete a menu beforehand. The choice was plentiful and we were also encouraged adapt it to our needs. Pot of coffee, fresh orange juice and homemade bread completed the wonderful experience.

This was our first venture out and break away since March and we felt so safe here, social distance was respected and used without any awkwardness.

We wish this hotel well and thank you for making our stay so perfect.

We returned for the first time since Covid began and the new owner. Anita has improved the rooms with a larger smart TV, silent mini fridge, freshly decorated rooms and fresh fruit in the rooms. The breakfast was excellently managed and Covid secure. The food was freshly cooked, well presented and offered variety of options for smaller or larger appetites. We will definitely be returning.

A return visit to the Abbeyfield B&B, our favourite place to stay in Torquay. We always receive a warm and friendly weclome from Anita. The room was warm, super clean and comfortable. Our mini fridge was stocked with fresh milk and water. There was a coffee maker with pods and cofee bags, tea, hot chocolate, fresh fruit and biscuits in our room. Each morning we had the most delicious choice of locally sourced produce for our breakfast all cooked to perfection by Anita. Fresh home cooked bread was also available along with freshly prepared fruit salad and pastries. Parking outside the propety is also a bonus. Anita is a wonderful host and we will definately be returning again.

Just back from a very relaxing 7 night break on the English riviera at this most beautiful bed and breakfast. Our hosts Anita and Dave were absolutely brilliant and very helpful and polite and nothing was ever too much trouble. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Torquay and about a 10 minute walk to the sea front but has a number of bus stops nearby if you don't fancy the walk! Our room (No 2) was spotlessly clean and had a really comfortable king size bed as well as a fridge with fresh water and milk which was replenished by Anita every day. There were also tea and coffee making facilities and a good selection of biscuits for that nice treat when you get back from a long day. The breakfasts were amazing with a great choice to suit all tastes and all cooked to perfection, there is also fresh fruit and a good selection of cereals. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and will definitely be returning. Thanks again Anita and Dave. Neville and Karen Beech

A wonderful hidden gem hidden away in Torquay. Cleanliness is perfect, lovely quality towels x toiletries. Full of hidden extras, fridge with fresh milk and water. Fresh fruit on arrival. A pre booked breakfast was deffinately worth getting up earlier for, DELICIOUS!! Torquay isnt the easiest p place to park, so the onsite parking is important
Anita is a wonderful host, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble .
THANKYOU for making our stay so perfect. Definately will be back. X

We have had the opportunity to make a return visit to the Abbeyfield after almost 5 years. This has always been our favourite place to stay in Torquay being within walking distance of the town’s restaurants and transport links. The new owners have made a number of subtle changes which have improved the decor and layout and have created more space in the dining room. There is a wide and varied breakfast menu which includes Anita’s freshly baked bread. Hopefully we will be back again before too long.

Fabulous small hotel in Torquay. Hosted by Anita & David, spacious rooms with every little detail considered. Complimentary afternoon tea to commemorate Agatha Christie's birthday, who was born locally.
Very welcoming, comfortable and highly recommended.

What time is the last order for breakfast acceptable ?
Answer from Anita L
4 contributions1 helpful vote
Breakfast is served between 8.15 and 9.00hrs - so in answer to your question its 9.o'clock - guests can take as long as they like to have breakfast and enjoy all there is on offer - earlier breakfast is by arrangement so business or early departures are catered for - we are a husband and wife team and do everything at the hotel including servicing the rooms, greeting customers, taking bookings, paperwork, laundry, and maintenance - the list goes on - to enable us to get through all this our day has quite a tight schedule - I hope I've answered your question and also given you a little insight as to how we operate our establishment - regards - Jeff
