Stayed for New Year's Eve. Excellent location near to the sea front, shops and restaurants. Lovely large room and a comfortable bed, which was immaculately presented. Really welcoming host and a fab breakfast to cap it all off!

Have not long returned from a 2 day break staying at this lovely hotel. It is beautifully presented, pretty and quiet. Wendy the owner was so helpful and gave a first class service. She demonstrated an excellent eye for detail and ably anticipated our requirements. If in Torquay again, we will come back!

We've just spent 5 nights at Merlewood House. It is a beautiful house with lovely vintage, shabby chic and Laura Ashley décor. The rooms are charming, light and comfortable. It is on quite a steep hill just up from the harbour, which didn't bother us at all, but might be a bit of a trek for older guests. I had...

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to complete a review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and had not noticed the biscuits had expired, I would have been more than happy to replace them for you. I shall certainly consider fresh cut bread for toast as I agree it is so much nicer than sliced. Hope to...

Merlewood House is a gorgeous guesthouse that felt like a four star hotel. The room was beautifully decorated and oozed charm and comfort. Wendy was such a great character and brimming with local knowledge and tips that were very helpful. The breakfast was delicious, and she even gave us a lift to the model village. We definitely want to stay...

We visited Merlewood House again this year, and it was three years since the last time we were there. Still as very good and enjoyable as the last time. Good breakfast and nice rooms. A little hot without fans, but it can easily be arranged, we believe.

The rooms have a lovely individual touch to each one and have everything you would need for your stay. The breakfast was lovely an we could not have asked for anything more. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the...

This Grade 11 listed building is truly stunning, the interior decoration is to an excellent standard, the bedrooms are so comfortable...

My wife and I moved to Torquay to live in August 2013 and due to the distance between houses we had to stay in a guest house overnight as the removal company could not deliver our furniture until the following morning. We could have just booked into any guest house for the night but it was our good fortune that...
