We were lucky enough to be staying nearby and popped into this pub on the first night of our holidays. Think we can safely say we were back most nights ( and a lunchtime time). Really friendly staff and locals, excellent range of real ale and very good pub food. Dogs welcome, beer very well kept and log burner lit...

Thank you PaigeyT, we're very glad you enjoyed your visits to The Benett Arms. Hopefully we will see you again in the future for further discussions of the colour brown and the dumpling vs Yorkshire pudding debate (these will rage on in your absence I'm sure!).

What a beautiful village pub we discovered, stayed for a weekend break and came away very relaxed. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced, traditional pub food with the most amazing Steak and Kidney Pie made by Bob. Great that they accept dogs as we found some lovely walks. The room was lovely...

Passing lunchtime saw that it was a "best pub" winner. Had a delicious homemade, buttery shortcrust pastry, beef pasty and a bacon and Brie sandwich, both served with small salad and crisp chips, accompanied by a half of bitter. Just great welcome and service. Well worth a detour in this lovely area. Good value at £12 in total for the...

This pub is the perfect country pub. Food is delicious. Excellent selection of beers. Wonderful staff. My parents love it, I love it. A great place for a casual beer or a dinner with the family. Camra approved too, which is notable. Heaven in summer, with the tables on the village green.

Have passed the Bennett Arms a number of times, today with warm spring sunshine and no pressure on time it seemed the right moment to stop and explore. We were not disappointed. Our welcome was warm and hospitable. The building was quaint and appealing, full of sunshine. Just wanting a simple lunch the soup accompanied by warm crusty bread was...

Three of us found this pub by accident on Good Friday. The car park was empty but it looked nice, has a lovely village green location, CAMRA awards and was open - so we gave it a try. Very decent lunches, friendly and chatty landlady and locals. It's not flash, but the menu was varied and interesting enough. By the...

I ate here before Christmas and expected to have a good roast turkey dinner. However, the turkey breast was so tough I couldn't eat much of it and the vegetables were minimal. There were no roast potatoes just bits that had been deep fried and the only vegetables were broccoli and carrots. The plate was just shown the gravy and...

Just don't head for Shaftsbury as the Benett Arms is in Semley Wiltshire. This pub serves real ales and has a good village atmosphere with friendly locals. It's not really a bistro type pub but serves good pub food with a varied menu at reasonable prices. Worth visting this scenic village.
