The Bakehouse cancelled our booking less than a week to go, we only found out via a friend who also had their reservation cancelled. They couldn't get hold of us apparently, although they emailed us our reservation and we were in on the night they said they tried to call.

of course we try to accommodate everyone, its not in out interest to turn people away ! ,but on this occasion the fire department funded by the olympics organization deemed it proper that we update our fire system , we had no alternative but to comply, we gave notice of this but clearly these customers felt that this 6 day...

My husband and son stayed here while visiting schools and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and spacious, the welcome warm and a great location for wandering around town and visiting the two schools. The host, Malcolm was really flexible, helpful and friendly. My husband and son loved the relaxed, personal feel and felt very welcome. I have previously...

I booked the family room - emailed and telephoned well in advance. we arrived at 5pm with children aged 3 and 4 only to be told there was a problem with the room (with little explanation) and could not stay. absolutely appalling behaviour. they had my email address and mobile number, and could have at least given some advanced warning....

We loved the relaxed atmosphere at The Bakehouse and our stay was everything we wished for. The room was really comfortable and spotless, and the breakfast excellent. The location was absolutely perfect for exploring Sherborne and it was lovely just being able to walk into town in the evening and enjoy the local pubs and restaurants without having to use...

The bad points: Strong dog urine smell on carpets in the hallways which I could smell in my room, dog mess in the court yard, the dining room was very tired and looks nothing like the pictures that are on...

Lovely room in the heart of Sherborne. Only possible drawback being the noise from the busy road and the Abbey clock chimes with the window open on a warm evening. Very nicely and unusually furnished with a comfortable if slightly old fashioned looking bathroom - wonderful hot water and brilliant to have a good bath after a days cycling. Our...

We stayed at The Bakehouse for a nearby wedding for our niece. We asked our kids (17 and 19 - not easy to please) at the end of a 10-day trip to rate the places we had stayed. They rated The Bakehouse the best, because of the relaxed atmosphere. Yvett met us and helped with the luggage when we arrived....

Bit late putting this review on - but a great place - so better late than never. If you research places properly - mostly through this website I should say - then the standard of your stay should meet or exceed your expectations. Once again proper research has led to a gem of a find. This place really was exceptional....
