We stayed one night. Somewhat disappointed with the room. Very cramped, tired decor, mildew on the bathroom ceiling. There was parking at the rear but constantly blocked so parked up the road. There was plenty of tea and coffee but the kettle had a mind of its own. The bathroom was extremely small but the shower was great. Plenty of... More

Stayed at the White Swan for two nights during the blues festival in October. Friendly staff allowed me to store my bag as I was too early for check-in. Average sized but fairly comfortable double room. Very cramped en-suite. I never heard any noise late at night even though room located above the bar. Bar itself wasn`t great. A bit... More

This place is dreadful. Room was noisy from kitchen below, dirty, condensation mould on ceiling in bathroom, paint peeling, radiators lined with dust, carpets greasy and threadbare, bedlinens cheap and bobbled, waiter smelt of urine - avoid at all costs. Garden looked like the local rubbish tip. We stayed one night only because we got there late and left as... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for carnival week and the pub was very disappointing. The shower was a drip..each day it got worse and worse. Shower was not cleaned when the room was made up. The bedside tables were dirty. Under the beds we're old hair brushes and clothes from other people! Man that served breakfast smelt like urine... More

Was going to have lunch at the White Swan until we saw the state of the garden. Newspapers, napkins, and ash trays all over the floor. Empty glasses everywhere. Food might have been OK but didn’t want to take the chance. Not what you would have expected in Swanage high street

Went to Swanage the other day ( 15th of July which was a Friday ) with my best friend to choose and but out fairy dresses for the fairy festival coming up next month in Burley new forest. After shopping we wanted to sit down for a nice meal somewhere as we were both hungry. This was about 15.30, every... More

Visited with family. Had a great meal, (pie with loads of meat) plenty of pub grub to choose from and really friendly service. Nothing was too much trouble for the waitress. Would happily return for another meal.

Stopped off when in Swanage to have lunch with friends. Had a little dog so not easy. Staff here were so welcoming and friendly despite being VERY BUSY. Nothing was too much problem. Lovely food and a very pleasant ambience. Would certainly recommend a visit.

Walked in off the street at a busy time. We were offered a table outside under a marque as we had a dog. Outside was great as it was hot ! Ordering at the bar is never an easy task for a man with big orders. Food was great and so was the drinks , next time I'll be hungry... More

This pub is a total disgrace everybody beware they have two pricing structures, if you are a visitor to Swanage you pay 40p more for a pint of Beer more than if you are a local I am trying to establish if this discrimination is legal

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you are looking for a traditional English pub with friendly staff and a great atmosphere then look no further. Found in the sunny, coastal town of Swanage in Dorset, The White Swan has under gone a major transformation in the last few years, giving it a more fresh, modern look with out taking away any of its rustic charm. The present owner Simon Ginn took over the business at the start of 2008, having spent many years in pubs up and down the country. He has used all his experience and knowledge from being in front of the bar and taken it behind the scenes, his aim to turn the White Swan into one of the best pubs in town. Why not come and see for yourself what we have to offer. You can relax in the bar and choose from our wide selection of beverages, including local real ales, ciders, a variety of draught and bottled beers and an extensive wine list. Enjoy a meal in our restaurant; our menu offers something for everybody or you can try one of our popular daily specials. Located at the rear of the pub is our secluded, walled garden where it is easy to forget you are in the centre of town and just sit back and enjoy the sunshine and if you are looking for somewhere to lay your head, then try one of our clean and comfortable letting rooms. What ever it is you are looking for, you can be sure of a warm, friendly welcome and we promise you, you won't be disappointed. ... more   less
