Great atmosphere within a great building in a great location. Really worth a visit if in Rye. Drinks may be a bit over average in price but worth it to sit next to the (giants fire (think that is what it's called)) in the bar. Friendly staff who know the stories, a must visit in the area

Thank you for your review. The Mermaid was rebuilt in 1420, which makes it truly unique, and is lovingly curated by the present independent owners since 1993. We will share your kind words with the staff concerned, who equally share a love for this historic building. We hope we can welcome you again in the future.

This is a lovely old hotel with lots of charm and character. Had some nice food and the pub is just beautiful. Had some of the local brews in front of the fire. Mueller wine was good and the service was great. Lovely atmosphere. Spent a few nights here.

We had wanted to stay in the mermaid for a number of years and chose the stay as part of a family visit. The decision was aided by the price we managed to get through booking dot com saving us £30 off the usual B and B price. We arrived at around 8pm after a foggy drive through the marshes....

We stayed, with friends, for 3 nights over the Christmas period and what a wonderful experience we had. We arrived on Christmas Eve and had a lovely lunch in the very old and characterful bar, one of my favourites. A little later, having wandered round the shops and streets of Rye, we were shown to our beautiful rooms and were...

Thank you so much for a wonderful Christmas Eve. Brilliant staff, yummy food and we were totally spoilt! It felt very Christmassy. Carol singing, roaring fire and mulled wine. The hotel was full of Christmas Magic! We shall return.

If you catch the winter setting sun you can get a magical photo of this ancient hotel with the sun glinting of the cobblestones winding their way done to the old fisherman's area. The exterior is stunning, beamed and covered in ivy where white doves look down. The staff here are always welcoming wether you are a guest or just...

One of, or the oldest hotel in that part of England. Old but very nicely adapted, rooms a bit old fashioned, but I enjoyed the charm. We had dinner in town, the standard inn, pleasant. Breakfast was very good. Rye is a very pittoresque little town.
