Jeake's House is a hotel that garners consistent acclaim for its cozy rooms brimming with historic charm and its exceptional breakfast offerings. Guests have highlighted the friendly and attentive service, often appreciating the owner's personal engagement. While the bathrooms may be on the smaller side and parking comes at an additional cost, many find the hotel's value commendable, particularly noting the reasonably priced parking and honesty bar. The hotel's atmosphere is frequently described as unique and inviting, with travelers also praising its prime location for exploring Rye. Cleanliness is a standout feature, though an isolated review mentioned room cleanliness as an issue.

Driving up Mermaid Street in Rye, you are driving into history. Jeake's House is well signed, a beautiful building. We were greeted warmly, offered help with luggage to our room, a lovely room Malcolm Lowry, overlooking Mermaid Street. The breakfast room is opulent and a treat to sit in, with classical music played low in the background. Breakfast itself is very well presented with homemade fare of different compots and cereals and juices to help yourself to, before ordering your main freshly cooked breakfast, cooked by head chef Dave. Jenny and her staff are all friendly and professional, making you feel comfortable at all times. The house feels homely throughout, and we sat in the downstairs rooms enjoying the ambience of this wonderful historic location. Highly recommended. Calling direct is best option. We have already made a reservation for Jeake's house for our next visit. The standard of service is very high and personable. A treasure in Rye which we will continue to visit.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Jeakes House. We stayed in the Conrad Aiken suite and it was certainly a big suite with two bedrooms but we only used one. Lovely picture window overlooking gardens below with a window seat and plenty of space. The room had coat hooks for outdoor coats, plenty of hangers and the dressing table in the extra room was about the best I have used. You could get your legs underneath it, it had drawers and power sockets very close by. Other hotels take note. Also the mirror was positioned so that you could actually see through it, not like in many hotels where it is too high to use. A smaller swivel mirror was also provided so great for getting ready. I have had to sit on floors near doors before in other hotels just to use a hairdryer or straighteners as sockets are a mile away from the dressing table. The breakfasts were superb, nothing too much trouble if anything needed tweaking due to diet. Jenny and Richard are wonderful entertaining hosts. Amanda and Lisa are very knowledgeable and really friendly and all the staff, waiting service and cleaners always had a smile which made the stay that bit more special. We had lovely weather and both of us usually have difficulty sleeping but actually slept every night at Jeakes. A private secure car park just a few minutes away was also a big plus. Thumbs up all round.

Most reviews mention breakfast, so I might as well start there. Outstanding in (quite unusual) choice and in every way. We only had the full English once, because we wanted to try some of the others. Devilled kidneys (with extra devil on request) were the star for me. Tomato juice, not on the menu, was provided from the (honesty) bar.
The owners and staff were all really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Coffee facilities in the rooms included coffee bags and fresh milk on request. Why don't more hotels offer this?
We added an extra night to our stay and spent this in one of the four-poster rooms which was stylish, but our other nights were in the smaller room with (private) bathroom across the landing. Perfectly comfortable, especially as bathrobes were provided. And good value.
A quirky, beautiful and historic building with a wonderful location on (very quiet) Mermaid Street, with private parking a short walk away, made this the perfect place to stay in Rye. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

An attractive hotel and a nice clean room. However singles beware you will be charged the full price for bed and breakfast for two.
The deal is that they are cheaper than booking dot com, which charges commission, the deal is not a discount for being solo.

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of July and were really impressed with the hotel. We stayed in the Elizabeth Fry room which although not very big, was beautifully decorated light and airy and peaceful as it overlooked the garden. The house itself is like a national trust historical property, full of interesting portraits and old photos. There is a little ‘honesty bar’ with newspapers and magazines provided which would be very cosy in winter. We were very grateful to the lovely receptionist for recommending several good pubs to eat in - the globe marsh inn was our favourite. Breakfast was good although the poached eggs were hit or miss ( 50% success rate) and we found the background piano music a bit irritating. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

We loved Jeake's House, and everything about it; the location in the heart of historic Rye in Mermaid St, the relaxing ambience and character of this wonderfully maintained House in keeping with the period of the property and with very comfortable Rooms., as well as the first rate and friendly service.
We enjoyed the very finest Breakfast cooked to perfection in such splendid surroundings of the Breakfast room. It is a lovely place to relax when staying in the heart of Rye, and we can't wait to return.

The hotel is situated in an historic building on the prettiest street in Rye (Mermaid Street - steep hill with cobbles). We loved our stay, the staff were lovely and friendly, the breakfast selection was very large with many uncommon dishes on offer devilled kidneys, eggs florentine etc. The private car park is a short walk away but it is possible to stop in front of the hotel for loading & unloading your luggage. We booked late (it is a very popular hotel) so we stayed in a room called the Elders Attic absolutely delightful - we love staying in unusual places. We were forewarned about it having very steep stairs for access and they certainly are, we laughed about climbing in and out of the room whenever we left or returned to the room - but if you do have any mobility problems it is definitely not for you, obviously all the other rooms are much more conventional for access. We would certainly stay at Jeakes again we might even ask for the Elders Attic again.

This gorgeous place has been on our ‘to do’ list for a while. Finally found a gap in our busy work life when we could escape to Jeake’s!
We weren’t to be disappointed and parked outside the door ‘literally’ to unload our bags and check in.
(The hotel guest car park is a short walk away, secure and easy to find). The lady who greeted us was very welcoming - we were on the top floor in ‘John Burke’ a small but perfectly adequate, pretty double room with en-suite with a bath and good shower, our room overlooked the garden and had no noise whatsoever! The hot water was plentiful and there were complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities, fluffy towels and robes, extremely comfy bed - even fresh milk (if you preferred it) was available in the downstairs bar.
We slept very well thanks to the blackout blind.
Breakfast was superb and freshly cooked to order, delicious stewed apple and cereals, warm toast and a selection of spreads.
The owners were a delight to chat to and they should be very proud to have such a historic, welcoming, relaxing and friendly place to stay.

This was a long desired, well earned break ... to relax, with dog in tow! I was warmly welcomed and shown to a beautifully appointed suite. The ambiance was in keeping with the age of the House. The 4-poster bed was oppulent with fresh white linen bedding and very comfortable. Facility for washing small but adequate, with a truly great shower (would have loved a bath!). Hosts are charming and staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast was splendid (great & varied menu). Well behaved dog also welcomed and spoilt with breakfast sausage. I truly loved this place and hope to visit again.

The Lowry is on the first floor, if you look at the pictures it's the room with blue and white patterned wall paper, great sized four poster bed, three windows looking out into Mermaid Street, bathroom has a roll top bath and a standing shower.
