We were immediately met at the door by the owner, Toby, who was extremely friendly and explained all the hygiene procedures: the place felt entirely safe, with good anti-covid procedures in place, well adhered to.

We had booked the windmill suite. This is perhaps the most charming place we have ever stayed at. The suite is over two floors, with a large bathroom with walk-in shower and a comfortable bath with great views over the town on the top floor, and a very large, luminous, extremely comfortable bedroom with desk and private access to a private balcony surrounding the windmill.

We chose to have our breakfast delivered to our door. It was very nicely cooked, and we ate it on the balcony, looking at the beautiful views.

Everything in the property is in good working order, clean and well-maintained. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The place is really well situated to visit the town by foot.

We will definitely return.

Had the pleasure of staying in the Windmill Suite to celebrate a special birthday, and it was everything we’d hoped it would be. Quiet, comfortable and relaxing. The location is perfect for exploring Rye, and the hosts were so knowledgable and helpful in advising of the best spots for dinner etc. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the suite itself was spacious, clean and had everything we needed ( especially loved the addition of chocolate to the fridge in the room! ). Would highly recommend, and if you can book the suite, definitely do.

2 nights in the suite at the top of the windmill was a wonderful surprise treat from my girlfriend for my birthday. The immaculate and very comfortable room was on two floors with spiral staircase and balcony that extended around the entire windmill. The bathroom was very large and spotless with a modern shower and pedestal bath. Other facilities included a small fridge with fresh milk for in-room beverages.
Toby and Kathryn could not have given us a warmer welcome ....... or more glorious breakfasts. They also have a cosy lounge area for guests with real fire and a small bar stocked with the essentials.
Rye railway station is just a few minutes walk and the centre of old Rye around 15 minutes walk. So it was a great base to arrive at and explore from.
In a word: perfect.

The Rye Windmill has a great location just on the outskirts of town, nowhere in town is more than a 10-15 minute walk. Onsite, free, private parking come and go as you please. Kathryn & Toby are just the best, welcoming accommodating, friendly hosts you can imagine. They clearly enjoy what they do and this comes across abundantly. The rooms are quiet, comfortable, spotlessly clean, very well appointed with everything your need in a B&B. The breakfast is as good a choice as you could wish for and plenty for a great start to the day. Each part of the breakfast is freshly prepared to order and tastes superb. Kathryn & Toby's attention to detail whether the rooms, the common areas or the food is faultless. They genuinely make you feel comfortable and relaxed, nothing too much trouble and the most charming of characters. My wife and I would stay here again without hesitation and recommend any one to enjoy their warmth and hospitality.

Had a fantastic stay at the Windmill. Was our first time and would happily return! Toby was so helpful and hospitable - and his wife did a fantastic job with our breakfasts (she bakes fantastic muffins!) in the morning. Also - a very safe stay if you are wary of COVID. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned and we felt secure at all times. Everyone is encourages to wear masks and apply hand gel (made available) the whole process is very diligent.

A must if you plan on visiting Rye!

Myself and my partner have just got home from a 2 night stay at the rye windmill b&b. One of the best places we have stayed. With the current situation going on it’s easy to worry about cleanliness and safety but this was covered from the start. Clear regimes that need to be followed to ensure that everything is covered and it made us feel safe from the start. Our room was spotlessly clean and overlooked the river which was amazing. We had towels, toiletries, a fan, hairdryer, biscuits and a selection of drinks from 2 litre bottles of water to hot drinks which you can refill as much as you want. We were made to feel very welcome from the start and the windmill is beautiful. The breakfast was amazing such a great selection and we left both mornings feeling stuffed ready for our day of exploring rye. From cereal, yoghurt and fruit to toast, a range of juices, tea and coffee and a range of cooked options from poached eggs, continental and also a full English. All of this is cooked and served by the hosts themselves! I don’t know how they do it it was like 30 degrees and you didn’t have to wait for anything. All of it cooked fresh as you order.

We will definitely be back it made our whole staycation. It is a must if you are visiting rye to stay here.

My husband and I spent two nights at the windmill B&Q for our wedding anniversary. From the
moment we walked in we were greeted with such warmth from the owner Toby. The windmill is steeped in history and is in the perfect location to explore Rye town centre and the nearby nature reserve.
The room was large and immaculately clean. Very comfy large bed and spacious bathroom with walk in shower. Gorgeously white crisp cotton towels and bed linen was also provided. We could make hot refreshments in our room and if needed could get extra supplies from the reception area. Water was also provided in our room. An electronic key fob gains you access to the hotel and you have a key for your room. There is additional blankets and a hairdryer if needed.
The breakfast is without a doubt one of the best breakfasts we have ever had, and served by the wonderful owners who clearly love looking after their guests. My husband and I mainly eat a whole food plant based diet, there was such a variety of choice of breakfast food we left each day with very full tummies! The dining areas has a lovely ambience to it, in fact the whole decor throughout the windmill is tastefully done, even the little deck area outside. Nothing was any trouble for the owners, they were a delight to meet. Truly an outstanding place to visit with such welcoming owners, we cannot wait to go back there again.

Had a wonderful stay at the windmill in Rye, Toby was a wonderful host and made us feel comfortable straight away, the hygiene standards were second to none and myself and sister and friend felt totally covid secure, Kathryn produced a wonderful breakfast, lots of variety and perfectly cooked and locally sourced. The windmill was on the outskirts of town in a quite secluded area but within easy reach of the wonderful shops and bar, a short drive to the coast. I highly recommend this B and B and will return ASAP.

We spent 2 nights at Rye Windmill B&B, and couldn’t fault it. Friendly and knowledgable hosts, the four poster suite was perfect, light and airy, with a super comfortable bed. It had a large modern bathroom with walk in shower, and the breakfast was really lovely,- especially the home made muesli and cooked breakfast.
There was a sitting room and even a decking area outside to relax in.The windmill is within walking distance of lots of restaurants, cafes, and there is plenty to see and do nearby.
