Great staff, excellent situation and a good nights sleep. Outstanding value for money. This hotel is ideally situated for visiting Constable country, Colchester and Ipswich. I don’t know how they provide such quality for the cost! Well done . Can’t recommend it enough

Where shall I start. I’ve stayed in other holiday inn express hotels but never have I had such a bad experience as here. The bed was completely uncomfortable, the sofa bed was unbearable (even with 3 duvets on it for the children to lay on), the heating was non existent, our

Response from HIEXColchester, Guest Service Manager at Holiday Inn Express Colchester

Dear Julieb00th1, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us here at Holiday Inn Express Colchester. We would like to sincerely apologise for the issues you have described. As a holiday Inn Express we strive to provide the high standards of service expected of our brand and are sorry to hear you felt this was not achieved. Unfortunately our lift has been out of service for a while, this is due to a delay in parts and an unexpectedly difficult fault. We do however explain the lift being out of order at check in and give the option of a ground floor room, our staff do also offer to help with any luggage if you are placed on the upper level. For the benefit of other readers, I would also like to highlight that over 40% or our bedrooms are located on the ground floor with the hotel having just 1 additional level. whilst we appreciate that this is not an ideal situation, we are working hard to get this resolved as soon as possible. In regards to the heating I would hope that our staff would have offered to change your room if they could not resolve the problem, I am very sorry if you brought this to our attention during your stay and this was not offered. Our beds and our express start breakfast are both Holiday Inn Express Brand Standards, therefore are the same in all Holiday Inn Express Hotels, this unfortunately means we have no control over these. We will use your comments and feedback to review and improve our service and hope you will give us the opportunity to regain your confidence by providing the standard expected on your next visit. Kind Regards, Trisha Bhandari

We (my husband, my infant son and myself) stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for one night on our way to the ferry in Harwich. We were looking for something basic and affordable that's exactly what we got. The rooms were perfectly fine, everything was clean and I was pleasantly

Hi how many people does a double room with sofa bed sleep?
Hiya Chelsea P, A double room can easily sleep four. The double beds are very comfy and the sofa bed is as good a quality as you will find. The spotlessly clean rooms are air conditioned and the walk in showers are a godsend. Great value for money; highly recommended. Enjoy your stay.
