Stayed for 3 nights over Halloween weekend. The hotel is really nice - great decor and friendly staff. The rooms are small (we had the second to smallest you can book) but it’s enough space for two to get ready etc. The breakfast is good and the staff are attentive and friendly. The car park is a massive pain but it can’t be helped and shouldn’t put anyone off. We got a space one day and the other two we paid for the car park (we spent most of the days out and about so wasn’t that bad on price) Only small comment would be around the cleanliness of the rooms. Completely understand due to Covid they aren’t cleaning everyday - I would prefer bags for the bins (after 3 days some food we had the day before was still sitting in the bin and we ended up leaving it out in the hallway which isn’t nice for other guests). Also there was thick dust on the headboard but everywhere else in the room was clean. We will definitely stay at The George again on our next visit to Cheltenham.

Hi Matt, Thank you for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your breakfast and found our staff to be friendly and attentive - I will be sure to pass on your kind words. Unfortunately being so central to town parking is limited but the staff are always on hand to offer alternatives, as you found. I am ever so sorry about your bin, we are currently following guidelines that have been put in place for the safety of staff and guests, but as a team we are always around for any essentials you may need. We really hope to welcome you back again soon! Best Wishes,

I originally wanted to book number 131 but they were fully booked so we stay at their new sister hotel The George. On arrival after we had checked in we helped our self too complimentary tea, coffee , juice in the basement dining room , which was a nice touch. I can honestly say it was a lovely stay , Very smart décor, very clean and lovely comfy beds, good bed linen .The room was spotless and the bathroom was amazing. We had a great nights sleep , it was really quiet. On booking i made reservations at number 131 for diner that evening. I think we had the best of both worlds with this , the buzz of 131 and the peace and quiet of the George. I would highly recommend The George and i am very fussy !!

I chose this hotel out of a nostalgic loyalty to cult clothing, and was not disappointed. We brought our dog who was given his own bed, dog treats and bowl in the room, which was a really nice touch. He was also allowed into communal areas like the diner for breakfast which is rare for a hotel. The breakfast on the first day was really busy but the staff were friendly and professional, and the second day the diner was virtually empty when we arrived so I guess day one had been an anomaly. Continental breakfast was plenty for us with a wide array on offer and all excellent quality. You get a free cooked breakfast if you book directly through the hotel so I’d suggest doing that if you require a cooked morning breakfast. Parking could have been an issue (there is limited parking at the back of the hotel) but as we were out most of the day it wasn’t a problem. I’m from Cheltenham and can attest this hotel has an excellent location, being close to Montpellier and the Prom but far enough away from the bars and restaurants to keep it nice and quiet. All in all we had a lovely stay!

Fabulous room, fabulous breakfast in an ideal location. We nearly booked to stay at no. 131 but this seemed quieter and better priced. Recommend booking through the hotel website as we got a cooked breakfast included and 1pm checkout. It is in a perfect location, easy to walk to shops and restaurants but away from the noise of local pubs and bars. Stayed in the culture room that was stunning. A selection of wine glasses in the room is a nice touch and the concept of the Pantry (especially in Covid times) is welcome. We arrived at 3pm and got a parking space at the hotel but there is a car park opposite as back up if needed. The breakfast was the best I have had for a long time. Freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious, choice of vegetarian and meaty dishes, coconut yogurt, pastries, different coffee options. We didn’t take advantage of the gym offer at the local Ladies College but will do this next time. My advice is book now if you are reading this review.
