Visited this pub for Sunday Lunch. Greeted with apology that because of numbers booked in for session, we would be cramped onto a small table in a thoroughfare! Food distinctly average. There is an attempt to be gourmet but they fail. Starters; nearly £8 for a small amount of pate with two pieces of crusts-cut-off-toast. Reasonable quantity of meet for...

I spent a night here during a business trip. There are only a few rooms at this place and I had a single one, which had what was most definitely a single bed. It was surprisingly comfortable, though, and I had a really good nights sleep, which was my main priority before a busy day of meetings. Check in was...

The pub/B&B is situated in the centre of town. It has recently been refurbished and is clean and functional. I was there for 1 night and it was an ideal base. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was very enjoyable.

As a hotel the Golden Cross Inn is basic, however it is very excellent value for money and well situation in the town. We had an apartment style room between four of us and it was comfortable and clean. Difficult to find fault with the accommodation, location or the staff.

Recently stayed at the golden cross Inn and was impressed. The only negative thing was the Internet was not very good. I could not connect at all to the wifi during my stay. Other than that I would recommend this inn to anyone visiting Cirencester.

We thought we would try somewhere different for Sunday lunch to our usual haunts - The drinks and the Sunday roast was more than we would normally pay but did not mind thinking it was going to be a fantastic meal. We were so disappointed - The roast beef was so tough we had to keep removing it from our...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just a short stroll from the town's historic market place, hidden up a picturesque mediaeval backstreet, you'll find The Golden Cross Inn.This early-18th Century coaching inn offers a warm welcome to all, from those seeking a thirst quenching pint of real ale to discerning diners looking for gourmet British cuisine, and of course to weary travellers looking for a bed for the night. While the building itself dates from the mid-17th Century, landlord Mark Lindesay and his dedicated team have recently transformed the pub into a welcoming hostelry offering contemporary standards of service, great food, good company and comfortable, well-equipped bedrooms, suites and apartments. The Golden Cross Inn offers the perfect combination of contemporary sophistication and traditional charm with its exposed beams, classic pub ambiance in its snug bar, combined with a light, airy dining area, all tended by friendly and attentive staff. ... more   less

“Family room was a bit odd, there are three single beds but it would really have made more sense for the larger room to have a double bed in it, there's certainly space. Windows on this room are right over the street (and pub entrance), so don't try for an early night without earplugs.”
