Sunday lunch was very expensive although very tasty! Cocktails £13, wine by the glass the same as many places. Service was friendly and good atmosphere, very comfortable and warm. Wine by the bottle seemed expensive!

We took advantage of a special midweek "George's Hygge" promotional offer to have a night B&B at The Painswick, a first visit, albeit have been to sister properties in the Cotswolds. What a great experience. The room we had was on the second floor, double aspect corner room (Hawkers) - spacious, comfortable (great bed) well appointed in contemporary muted tones,...

I was only at The Painswick for one night but it was an absolute dream. The hotel is beautiful and my room was beyond comfortable. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the food delicious, and the scenery unbeatable. I enjoyed my time exploring gorgeous Painswick and the hiking trails then retreating to my oasis at The Painswick. I had such a...

This is a really gorgeous hotel in a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We paid for a "Big" room (which was actually quite small but very beautiful) because we wanted a separate shower but much to our frustration we were unable to get hot water for the entire weekend. Each time we mentioned this to reception or...

We popped in for drinks at The Painswick whilst waiting to check in to a nearby hotel and I loved the place immediately. Fantastic, friendly staff who were very helpful and attentive. Beautifully decorated bar and lounge, with a roaring fire and gorgeous little touches such as the prints by a local artist over the fireplace and in the lobby....

We visited for lunch on December 23rd but there was little festive on the menu, Much of the food was served cold and I would expect a soup. My pate came several minutes after the others. I would hesitate to return

We had a two night break before Christmas and we loved the hotel; my wife felt it was the best UK contemporary boutique hotel she has stayed in. We would certainly recommend letting the train take the strain; Stroud is the nearest station and the hotel will pick you up in their silent electric car and you don't need a...

We tried The Painswick for dinner on 29th for a family birthday celebration and we had fantastic food with great service too. We loved the menu - it was difficult to choose! Familiar favourites like Beef Wellington and Chicken Kiev, but perfected by the chef to an extremely high standard. The home made bread was amazing. For puds my raspberry...

Pros: Lovely picturesque location Beautiful decor Great food Fabulous beds Cons: Noisy corridor full of kids running up and down (not hotels fault...but I specified a quiet room and have been placed with teenagers and youngsters sharing rooms both sides and not an adult in sight!). Soft door closures don't work so door noise is incredibly loud each time occupants...

The Painswick hosted our 3 course Christmas team lunch for 14 and could not have been more accommodating. All email and telephone communication in advance was professional, courteous and obliging. And on the day everything was delicious and, of course, the building, the private dining room and surroundings are perfect. Thank you!
