My initial impression of this property was that it felt like a HMO (House of Multiple Occupation) - it was self check in via an electronic digital communal front door then a key safe outside the room you were allocated. From what I could see there were 4 'Rooms to Stay' in the building. I knew this in advance but it felt odd nevertheless. I had cause to contact the 'manager' (not due to any problems with the room or property) and this was very easy and efficient so the system they have clearly works well. My initial impression of Winchcombe was not great having recently stated in Chipping Campden and Broadway which are idyllic - Winchcombe was by comparison a bit 'rough' and so upon arrival at the front of the property I wasn't expecting much however once entering the room I was a bit relieved as it was clean and had everything I needed for my one night stay. But here is the issue - the decor, furnishings, fittings etc are all cheap (in real terms or visually) and there is no breakfast included - for more money per night than I paid for excellent accommodation in Chipping Campden or Broadway (with breakfast included). This place is simply not worth the money even though it will provide all you need - end result is a feeling of having been ripped off - £50 per night would have been a fairer and more realistic price per night all things considered. As it happens my arrangements for walking the Cotswold Way meant I had to stay in Winchcombe - if I were to do so again I would have walked to Winchcombe and returned to Broadway by bus to stay another night and returned to Winchcombe the next day by bus to continue the walk the following day - this would be my overriding recommendation to anyone doing the same.…
This place was far more expensive than most we have stayed in and offered far less. For the price you pay you expect more than one coffee sachet between the two of us. No microwave, no fridge, nothing to make your stay in any way comfortable. There are much better places to stay. Would not recommend.
Close to all facilities in Winchcombe. The only downside for me as a single female I found it a bit daunting at first with no reception and staying in what felt like an empty house but would definitely stay again.
Hot, stuffy and airless room. Couldn't open a window. Annoying sensor light in bathroom wakes your partner if used during the night. Bed comfy. Location close to town centre, pubs etc. overall , disappointed.
I only live around the corner from this place but I stayed there when I had a house full of my daugher's friends staying. It is newly refurbished and has been very well done. However it also has a really homely feel to it which is lovely. The check in is unusual as there is no reception but all the arrangements worked very well and the owners are on hand if there are any problems. The room is well stocked with all the things you would expect from a top quality hotel. Parking is not a problem. I should also say that the bed was really comfortable! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
