Found this haven by error. Left the historic dock and instead of heading towards Gunwharf Quays we headed to town. Tasty home cooked food, with well stocked bar including real ales. All very reasonably priced. Resturant, ambience staff and locals very welcoming.

Decided to try The George because a friend said the Ale was good. It was, very good! So good we stayed for a few and food. The meals are home made - not out of a packet. portion size was large - if you are hungry this is a good option. Chicken ham and leak pie was delicious. Just under...

We enjoyed the friendly pub several times during our visit. Good selection of real ales and ciders but more important the kibd of genuine cordial vibe one hopes to find in a pub. Nice place to sit with a glass.

If you are planning to spend the day visiting the Dockyard (which is fab), then we would recommend this traditional little hotel completely because it is literally three minutes walk away from the entrance. But it's not just its location that makes it so good. The bar area is cosy and everyone makes you extremely welcome. It's the kind of...

The staff are so helpful and friendly. Due to this being a pub it has a real pub atmosphere, but you are made very welcome The food is brilliant and is very varied, and great value for money. Have never heard any complaints about the food and they are quite happy to mix up the meal you choose is you...

What a place, we have visited several times and always get the same warm welcome, the bar reminds me of a pub from traditional days, barmaids who know their punters drinks from the 1st round, customers who talk together and appear to enjoy the relaxed ambience created by the staff. We ate a couple of times here too, food was...

The George hotel is a traditional little pub with 10 ensuite bedrooms. It's cosy and welcoming and the food was lovely. The portion sizes are very good too. You could call it a little dated but it is in keeping with the tradition and history of the building itself and the surrounding area. We wanted to stay somewhere that had...

Stayed here in early January in a "family room" with my wife and adult daughter. This particular room was large, clean; and the beds, etc. were fine. This is not a deluxe establishment, but perfectly adequate in all respects. For those interested -- as we were -- in viewing all of the nautical exhibits on the waterfront, this location was...

Stayed here for a few days to do some academic research and it proved a great base for the university, city centre and excellent for the historic dockyard as it's literally next door. The room was nice with all the expected amenities and plenty of tea/biscuits, not one or two of everything like you find in most hotels. Also included...
