We stayed at the White Star Tavern as we were picking up my husbands parents from a cruise. I chose online partly for the location, but also the rooms looked cosy and characterful. We were not disappointed. It was a perfect place to stay and we were made to feel very welcome. Our breakfast early the next morning was excellent....

Noise from both internal coridoor until the early hours and begun again around 6am. Single pain windows allows for a great deal of noise from drunks in the high street and the bin lorry early in the morning. A very poor nights sleep.

The building is well maintained and the rooms are lovely. Huge beds and plenty of toiletries and other nice touches like bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer etc are included which you don't always get in a B&B. We ate here twice too, for both brunch and dinner and the food was excellent. Service also very good, it's particularly nice that the staff...

The White star was very busy when we arrived, which created a nice atmosphere. The only problem was the music (dj) was a bit too loud to speak to each other. Thankfully our table was ready which was quieter. Once seated the waitress gave out the menus (very limited) to then tell us there was lots not on it!! So...

This is the second time I have stayed here with work. Very close to our exhibition and the breakfast is amazing. Loved the smashed advacado on toast. You must have 2/3 in there. Always busy when the sun is shining and plenty of choices to drink and eat. Flat at the top is very cute and look forward to staying...

The White Star is in a great location, Oxford Street is a lovely place which isn't too busy with traffic and students but also lively enough to have a good atmosphere. Having read some of the review on here, I wasn't too worried about slow service as I was looking forward to catching up with friends and like a gap...

We arrived early Saturday and enjoyed a great brunch before heading to university open day. Easy to park outside on street, although time limited. Smart, historic, part of the city. Tables outside to enjoy the sun. Wide range of seating options inside and very characterful. Hotel reception is upstairs and not normally manned - just ask at the bar. Rooms...

We had a lovely night out here, with a meal, bed and breakfast. The food, especially the scallops were delicious and the service was attentive. The room was really nice, with a cafetière, and really good shower.

We went here early evening for a meal with our son on his birthday. We were met with a very pleasant waitress who immediately asked if we wanted table water. We had their bread & olives to share which was really nice. Main courses were fish & chips & vegetarian vegetable pie. All very good. Chips were a bit salty...
