Dover is not the nicest place to stay overnight en-route to a holiday in Europe, but Clare House makes Dover look nice. The place is run down, hasn't been decorated for years, maybe not cleaned for the same amount of time. Parking is a joke. We were due to stay again on our way back from Europe, but were happy...

We stayed here before catching an early ferry. The land lady was really nice and welcoming, clearly a lovely lady. I thought the accommodation was little more than adequate. It needs updating, and then some. Also, it's not really in a very nice part of town and I was a bit dubious about leaving my car outside with all our...

A warm welcome from a friendly landlady. Stayed there for one night only. Got the top floor en-suite room which was ok but cold. The bathroom was really small, the water either cold or hot with hardly any pressure, disappointing. Breakfast nice but you have to pay extra. Overall, a decent place but for the price you would expect a...

we arrived ahead of a ferry crossing August 2015 to find a tiny car park out front of the house which we only JUST fit on. Our room was on the top floor (loft room) 1st thing we noticed was although we had a key for our room it was clear the door had been forced and broken into before...

Room was tired but clean and bed comfortable.Bathroom clean......good drink tray although table not really big enough to hold it all.Excellent full English breakfast next morning . Landlady gave us helpful advice on where to eat when we arrived and saw us off next day. For the money we paid, plus cost of breakfast, this was good value and would stay...

We stayed here on Friday evening as A stay over before we got on the ferry early Saturday morning. Greeted by a very friendly couple who then broke the news that the room we had booked was not available and that we had a room on the top floor. However it was £10 cheaper. The place appeared on first impressions...

Lovely traditional room with tv, kettle and bathroom. Is situated in downtown very close to the beach, Dover Castle and museum and 15 minutes walk from the Cliffs of Dover and surrendered by different restaurants . Reasonable price perfect for couples and families

I'm really disappointed with this place. I thought it would be a step-up from a hostel that cost the same when I travelled here the week before but it was awful. I don't usually write reviews and had there only been one or two things wrong then I probably wouldn't have bothered but the fact that the room STANK of...

The welcome we had from the manageress was fantastic, she was really helpful and even offered to keep our ski kit locked in the breakfast room overnight which was a big help. We were only on the first floor but it was nice not to have to lug skis and boots etc up only to bring them down again in...

we choose Clare House as a stop on our journey from continent to Scotland. It is conveniently located near the town centre and rather cheap (all the Travelodges and Premier Inns in the area were much more expensive for this particular date). Upon arrival we discovered why it was cheaper... first of all the place advertises itself as having free...
