Travellers' Choice
Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is set in one of the town's architectural landmarks, a Grade II-listed sandstone mansion built as a private residence in 1762. We have retained its authentic detail carefully, adding our unique touch to the 34 bedrooms with antiques and memorabilia. Guests can enjoy a game of boules, dining on the garden terrace with its wonderful views across Calverley Park, or a wander through the hotel's very own vineyard. BEDROOMS: Housed within this impressive building are 34 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVDs and air conditioning. BISTRO: Open all week, and under the tutelage of head chef Daniel McGarey, Bistro du Vin is at the heart of our hotel, a classic, French styled, elegant and informal setting for lunch, dinner, to meet, celebrate or simply pass the time. Dine on the finest produce the Kent has to offer from local heroes such as herbs and seasonal vegetables from local nursery chef's herbs, meat from Woodlands Farm and fish from Chapman's of Sevenoaks. These are only a handful of the suppliers included within our homegrown & local philosophy.

Hotel du Vin & Bistro Tunbridge Wells stands out for its elegant atmosphere and welcoming ambiance, although occasional disturbances from events have been noted. Nestled in a prime location in Royal Tunbridge Wells, the hotel receives accolades for its proximity to attractions and its helpful staff. Service is frequently regarded as friendly and professional, contributing to the hotel's immaculate cleanliness. We travelled to Hotel du Vin with some fairly high expectations based on the price, but absolutely underwhelmed by the experience. I’d always prefer to stay in a place with character, but the room we had was cramped & gloomy with a really small bed and a real shortage of usable sockets (it wasn’t possible to charge a phone or watch beside the bed). A budget hotel chain would genuinely offer a better room than we had. Add in the fact that extra charges seem to apply to everything (£10 to reserve a parking space, £25 for an early check in despite the fact that we were part of a large party & event there). But the real kicker was that our £200 room didn’t even include breakfast! Of course we should have checked, but I had assumed that breakfast was a given at that price for the quality of the room, only to discover that breakfast begins at £20 a head for the continental buffet and moves up from there 😳. This is a nice place, but it’s not nearly as nice as it seems to think it is unfortunately. We really did want to love it there but were totally underwhelmed by the experience. Perhaps it says more about us than the hotel, but next time I’m staying in the area I’ll go for the Premier Inn for a better sleep at half the price.

Room Tip: Haggle to get your breakfast included, take a long charging lead & expect a cramped bed if there...

Had a lovely stay at the Hotel du Vin. Great country house atmosphere in a town, very relaxing stay. Great and warm welcome from Holly and Lili at reception. We were shown were everything was, housekeeping team Mihaela, Greg, Flory and May presented a lovely room with lots of character, a lovely welcome pastry in our room as we arrived and a very tidy and clean room, classic French design and modern touches. Had a great meal in the restaurant for a friend's birthday. Staff Vitalii, Aiga, Frankie and Alex put on a delicious meal for us and the Kitchen team Loui, Stoian and Josh made delicious food. The seafood was so tender and fresh tasting. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming and really made us feel special, nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed happy in their jobs and to serve. The hotel was very busy for mothering sunday but that didn't affect the service or welcome. Wonderful breakfast in the morning and great selection of continental and cooked breakfast available. Nice to have a normal later check out time so we didn't have to rush. Had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone. Will be coming back.

We stayed her for 3 nights, and after a quick room change due to the expected size of the Duluxe room and what we were first given, our stay was amazing. All of the staff were wonderful. We took our dog as well, and he was treated like a king. The original Duluxe room was very small, called Esk Valley, but after asking, we were soon moved to a larger, much nicer room called Freixenet. Food first-class Location perfect We would highly recommend it.

We visited for a one nights stay from a Sunday to Monday and were blown away. Very warm and friendly welcome from Holly on reception, the food was out for the Sunday lunch and looked incredible. Our room was great - really spacious! The bath & shower were lovely, great water pressure. Lots of lovely toiletries included in the room too. Bottle of water each side of the bed was a great touch. Hairdryer, iron and board all in the room which was very handy. We stayed for dinner in the Bistro and the food was incredible! The mushroom sourdough starter was so full of flavour and the steak was cooked to perfection. Great portion sizes, lots of flavour. The breakfast the next day was equally as good and the continental area had a lot of variety. I would 100% recommend this (& already have to friends and family) to anyone thinking to stay.

Being local in Tunbridge Wells we had not tried the Bistro in the Hotel Du Vin before. We booked and went for the 5 course tasting menu. What great value for money, the food was wonderful has was the wine which paired each course. Patrica and her staff are very friendly and the wine with each course was explained. Every member staff we came across from the bar to the restaurant were great, will be back to try the Sunday lunch, I would highly recommend the Hotel du Vin restaurant.

A busy little hamlet of a hotel that doesn't seem as busy as what it is. Everything seemed so easy and it was. The staff are so nice and just the right amount of attentiveness. The food was excellent and it was one of the best onion soups we've had in a long time. The room was comfortable and full of Victorian charm. The shower and bath were lovely, as we're the coffee and tea options in the room. Breakfast was lovely (extra points for the French toast and eggs royale!) and the staff perfectly charming. We didn't manage to use the onsite bar or have enough time to do the afternoon tea, but I guess that just means we'll have to return

This was our first visit to the Bistrot at Hotel du Vin and it did not disappoint! Both the chefs and waiting staff are to be commended. Our steaks were delicious and perfectly cooked and my husband’s red wine just was the best he has tasted. Our server Patricia was charming and knowledgeable and we would not hesitate to return so we can try other dishes on the menu. A big thank you to Tomas, Stoyan, Loui, Patricia, Alex and Vitali who were working on the night of our visit.

The room, we paid £275 for, had a light beaming into the windows. It was so light at 22:30 it was almost like daylight in the room! (Photos taken at 22:30, do not even come close to showing how light the room was, as the phone flash was on). The bed was so uncomfortable we both had back pain the following day. We told the hotel and they were aware of the problem with the lights coming into the room. They said they were having a refurb and they were putting pelmets up! I was also told the next morning that I could have come down and moved rooms or got an eye mask . (I was doing the T wells 1/2 marathon the following day and we had a dog with us. The disruption of moving was not an option at that hour) This room should have never been given out to paying guests, especially as they had complaints before. Terrible customer service after my complaints the following morning. I wanted to speak to the general manager and I was told ‘she was busy until Friday’. (We stayed on the Sat/Sun). Not even 5mins for customer service in a whole week. Obviously not her priority!

An excellent Hotel in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. Exceptionally helpful, well trained staff. Nice touches such as named reserved parking space. The room was small but very comfortable- needs more power points. Aiga at Breakfast and Holly and Lilli on Reception were extremely helpful. We would stay there again.

Unique hotel, perfect location, beautiful room extremely well equipped with: coffee/tea, water, robes, slippers, hairdryer, mini fridge, comfortable bed, spotless clean throughout. I really enjoyed my stay. I booked my parking with my room. The biggest asset they have is the staff. Beginning with the concierge staff, restaurant staff, cleaning team, they all are very professional, helpful and very polite. Holly and Stephen, special thank you to you two for all your help during my stay. (Camelia L)
