This is a beautiful building with a history - Queen Victoria stayed here a number of times as a girl when it was a private residence - and it still retains many lovely features. There is a very nice garden area and pleasant outlook at the back over a park. The hotel is very conveniently situated in the centre of...

Dear traveller1919 Thank you for your lovely review - I am so glad to read that you enjoyed your visit with us. We are very luck with our location, and have tried hard to retain as much character and style that the property deserves given its heritage. Thank you also for the kind words about the team - it is...

Some will say I'm picky, others will be shocked but at nearly £200 a night for a torn bed sheet, an unhygienic toilet seat and peeling paint! You could say I'm somewhat disappointed. Upon arrival the receptionist asked if I had confirmed my dinner reservation, which I hadn't as I wasn't aware this was required, she said they could accommodate...

Dear Readie500, Thank you for your review, though I am disappointed to read it, and I do not believe is a fair representation of your experience with us. We will always offer the choice of table times available on arrival; and recommendation is always made at the time of booking to try and ensure everyone receives their preferred time slot....

Been here 3/4 times recently for sunday lunches and also a couple of overnight stays. I love the place! The atmosphere, gardens, tranquil setting and staff make the place unique and every stay worthwhile. I think the venue is excellent value and will continue to frequent for many years to come. We have held 2 birthdays here recently, and Im...

A year after having the wedding reception lunch here, we returned to celebrate our first anniversary. We were upgraded to the Freixnet Room and the was a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice in the room! What a great start to proceedings. After some local shopping we returned for dinner and again we had a lovely time. For starters we...

We spent two night here last week. Normally I'm a nomade regarding hotels, allways looking for something better. If I ever come to Tunbridge Wells again, I will definitely stay here. The town and the hotel is worth a visit of it's own. Charming hotel with lots of history. Friendly staff, good food and reasonable priced! Basil Fawlty was not...

I have been a regular at HDV for over a decade, so disappointing to see their standards gradually slip. We went for dinner on Saturday night, drinks in the bar first. Bar Manager watched while we searched for a chair, I had to ask him to assist, the response was surly at best. We then sat and waited for service...

The hotel is very well placed in the town and about 12 mins walk to the famous Pantiles area. We stayed in the Louis Jadot room which was clean and comfortable. For me the room was oddly shaped and not sympathetically in tune with the fabric of the building. The ugly vents in the ceiling did not help nor did...

I recently had afternoon tea for two in The Tea Room on a Thursday afternoon. The room was beautiful and the selection of cakes, scones, sandwiches and pastries were all delicious. So impressed and the service was great too. I have to mention the receptionist/hostess (a young blonde lady) who was so friendly and welcoming; it really adds to the...

Compared to other hotels in the same chain we found this Du Vin to be rather dark inside. The room was lovely with a great view over the gardens at the rear of the hotel. The menu is a disappointment, all Du Vin hotels use the same menu and we think that results in lack of interest by the catering...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel du Vin Tunbridge Wells is set in one of the town's architectural landmarks, a Grade II-listed sandstone mansion built as a private residence in 1762. We have retained its authentic detail carefully, adding our unique touch to the 34 bedrooms with antiques and memorabilia. Guests can enjoy a game of boules, dining on the garden terrace with its wonderful views across Calverley Park, or a wander through the hotel's very own vineyard. BEDROOMS: Housed within this impressive building are 34 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVDs and air conditioning. BISTRO: Open all week, and under the tutelage of head chef Daniel McGarey, Bistro du Vin is at the heart of our hotel, a classic, French styled, elegant and informal setting for lunch, dinner, to meet, celebrate or simply pass the time. Dine on the finest produce the Kent has to offer from local heroes such as herbs and seasonal vegetables from local nursery chef's herbs, meat from Woodlands Farm and fish from Chapman's of Sevenoaks. These are only a handful of the suppliers included within our homegrown & local philosophy. ... more   less
