We were welcomed nicely, the staff on reception were very friendly, they changed us to another room (we wanted a shower not a bath) without any fuss.
The room was okay, but it could have been cleaner there was dust and bits on the carpet and I had to clean a poo streak off the toilet pan. The bedding was fine.
When we used the shower, we found that it was not draining properly and the shower curtain also allowed water to flow over the floor (a lot of water!).
We had an evening meal and that was not good, however it was just £12 odd; I was shocked to have to pay over £4.50 for a very small bottle of beer.
The eating area in the foyer looks like it has been furnished with cast off goods from a youth hostel and there were random items lying around this room, like a microwave oven on the floor near the main entrance door - it shows that the manager is not on top of things.
Breakfast was cold on the first morning but okay on the second day. They have a dispenser for juice, the orange juice was disgusting, so watered down as to be tasteless. I spoke to the waiter and he was aware, just shrugging his shoulders saying "I know, I know". The coffee was poor also.
The thermostat on the shower didn't work and the temperature went from OK to scalding in a fraction of a second. I would not let a child go in that shower.
Having said all that, the location is very good but they do not have sufficient parking and many guests had to try and find a space in the road but restrictions apply so beware, arrive early and do not go out in your vehicle in the evening.
The price and the hotel might be budget but the service and cleanliness far exceeded that expectation.
The rooms are tiny, beds awful, and bathrooms with showers where you feel cleaner before you go into it than you do after getting out.
The walls are beyond paper thing - we had to listen to our neighbours watching And & Dec on a Saturday night, on ITV and then ITV + 1.
The toilet was far from clean when we got to the room, in fact a “gift” that didn’t want to leave was left for us in the toilet and it simply wouldn’t flush. We spoke to reception and asked them to send a cleaner up with a brush to sort it whilst we went for dinner. The guy on reception couldn’t care less, commented how gross it was and alas did nothing about it.
Luckily managed to book into the premier inn down the road (highly recommended) and sincerely hope we never have to stay at this travelodge again!
