Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Premier Inn Hull City Centre hotel garners appreciation for its prime location near city attractions and the convenience of free parking, as mentioned by numerous guests. Travelers commend the overall cleanliness and comfort, although some have called out the decor for being outdated and rooms for maintenance shortcomings. While the staff's friendliness is often highlighted, some visitors experienced frustration with service speed.
Additionally, guests hold mixed views on value, with some satisfied by meal deals, but others disappointed by service issues and pricing. Amenities like local views are applauded, but inconsistent Wi-Fi and room temperature are points of contention.

This was our 4th or 5th visit to this Premier Inn. It’s within a few minutes walking distance of The Deep or over the little foot bridge into the old town and Whitefriar Gate for shopping, eating etc. We love the old fashioned real ale pubs within the cobbled streets of the old town. We visited on the day of storm Ciara and some of the cladding had blown off the front of the tower, but staff were very caring and explained why, for safety reasons, some of the rooms and certain tables in the restaurant were not being used. We raised an issue of room allocation with member of staff Paddy at check in and he was very helpful in explaining the issues and moving us to a room with a city view rather than Humber view. Although it was very windy on the 11th floor we slept really well.
Given how bad the weather was, we took advantage of the £24.99 meal deal to include evening meal & breakfast the next morning.
Had excellent service from Grant at dinner and again Paddy at breakfast. Well done and we will be back for another night out in Hull

I have stayed at this premiere inn around 4 times. The location is excellent for the marina and Hull City center. If booked in advance you can usually get a good deal on the price which includes free parking.
Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable.
The only issue is on each occasion I have stayed one of the lifts has always been broken, which does mean you can be waiting a while, especially around check in and check out times.

Very clean and comfortable room, ours also had an extra mattress. Because of Covid, they’re only cleaning your room if requested and you have to ask for things like extra toilet roll. This premier inn has free parking across the road on a first come first served basis. But whenever we left and came back, there were always spaces available. There is a nice view if you’re on the front of the hotel, and all staff seemed helpful.
We couldn’t find any bars or pubs on this side, so you will have to cross the river. We paid around £20 per night so can’t really complain at that.

Stayed at the Hull Premier Inn for a couple of nights. The building is across from the old town in what looks a bit like a wasteland and the car park looks a bit dodgy. Parking was free which was useful and there is parking on the first floor where the hotel is located, but this tends to be full. The reception is on the 7th floor and when we arrived, one of the lifts was out of use, so it was a bit of a wait for the functioning lift. When we left the hotel, the lift was still not fixed – not sure why it was taking so long? There is an alternative service lift accessible through the carpark as well. Stairs only seem to be accessible during fixed times of the day as there is work going on. It does raise the question of what happens if there is a fire or emergency! The scaffolding around the building also made it all look a bit depressing. Check in was seamless and quick. Room itself is the usual PI standard in terms of space, but despite a later check in time to allow for more thorough cleaning (according to the email), the carpet felt a bit grimey and there was a stray hair on the sink when we arrived, so cleaning could be improved. We were also only provided with one towel despite the booking for 2 pax, so there wasn’t much attention to detail. The door handle was a bit shaky and flimsy so we were a bit paranoid about a break in, esp when the door which separates the main reception from the corridor was usually open as the lock didn’t seem to work. We had a room facing the old town, so that wasn’t bad. On the last evening, it was a bit noisy with doors slamming upstairs, so it was a bit annoying. Luckily it stopped before we went to bed. Booked in for continental breakfast on the day we left and it was disappointing – quite a few items on the menu such as muffins, mixed berry compote, mixed fruit salad, etc were not available. Apparently the last two were down to deliveries which didn’t arrive? There was no offer to provide a discounted price due to this. We would have been expected to be informed if the breakfast items were not going to be as published. Location of the hotel was good, but the stay was otherwise unremarkable. PI service standards seem to be slipping and this might be one of the worse PIs we have stayed in!

My husband and I stayed here on Christmas eve. We were not given any information at check in but when we checked with reception later that night we were told that breakfast in the morning would be on until 10.30-11am. We had paid for a cooked breakfast in advance but when we went down at 10am, we were told we were too late. We got a selection of stale leftover bread but was not a good start to christmas morning. We were told we would be refunded. I never received it so had to ask again on checkout and was told again that I would receive a refund - still nothing. On top of that, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was so noisy we hardly slept. We were woken around 7am by the cleaners. I had planned to complain but the absence of our breakfast took president and I didnt bother. I wouldnt stay here again.

I find the Premier Inn chain to be consistently excellent.
The location of this one was perfect, just the other side of the river from the old town, with a convenient pedestrian bridge in between. It was easy to take a stroll across in the morning for a quick breakfast then stop off back at our room before heading out for the day.
The view from our room across the Humber was quite something.
Generally thought the Covid measures were good. The only thing I wasn't a fan of- and I told the member of staff when we checked out was that the cleaner banged on our door more than once before the check out time- really no need when you are leaving that day and they only clean your room at the moment when you vacate it (I believe if you stay for a long time they move you to a different room after a while).

Checked in. Asked to borrow an iron. Woman in reception carried iron and ironing board to my room as I had my hands full with luggage. Minute she opened door, smell of stale smoke hit me. I asked her if she could smell smoke. She said she couldn’t smell anything as she’d had Covid! Window was open so looked out in case someone was smoking below window. They weren’t. If it wasn’t stale smoke I thought maybe it was a musty smell coming from the bathroom. Anyhow, she left. I tried to put TV on. It said “poor or no signal”. Rang reception. She said “turn it on n off again”. I said I would if I could but couldn’t find mains switch. She said “under desk”? There was only a double socket under desk with one thing plugged into it, the desk lamp. She said “follow the leads from TV”. Again, I said I would if I could but leads hidden from view behind TV and couldn’t move TV to find them as it was mounted close to wall on a wooden unit! She said she’d send someone up. While I was waiting I thought I’d put air con on. Followed instructions on card on desk. Kept getting E04 error message. Also bed didn’t look particularly well made and when I pulled back quilt, mattress sheet looked like someone had just got out of bed i.e. it didn’t look freshly made and I couldn’t work out if pillow slips were fresh linen either as I couldn’t see any freshly ironed creases, plus the pillows had an “old man” dirty hair smell. By this time, the smoke smell was overwhelming me so I went down to reception and told her air con wasn’t working either. She said air con wasn’t working anywhere in building and that’s why they had fans. There was no fan in my room. I asked why I wasn’t told that when I booked or, at the very least, when I checked in. She shrugged. I said I’d like to change rooms cos of smoke smell. She said they were full. I said then can you transfer me to another PI in or near Hull. She said no availability. So I ended up booking Travelodge (whilst in their reception) and paying £24.50 extra for the privilege and they refunded me (haven’t checked yet whether refund was in full) and I left.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Premier Inn Hull City Centre hotel
Responded Aug 24, 2021
Hi there Gillian, We’re very sorry that you were left disappointed by the cleanliness standards in your room on arrival. This certainly isn't the experience we would expect for you. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and teams has always been incredibly important to us and everyone in our hotels should rightly expect a safe, clean and protected environment. The Coronavirus crisis has brought this into sharp focus, which is why we have launched a new rigorous, daily cleaning regime across all our hotels. We apologise you found your room to not be up to the high standard we would expect. We have ensured this feedback has been logged to the Hotel Management team so that they can look into these issues with our Housekeeping teams to prevent this experience from being repeated again in the future. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and we hope we can welcome you for a more enjoyable stay in the future. Kind regards, Danny

We booked a night with breakfast 4 weeks before staying, in the morning we turned up for breakfast to be told we shoudv booked. I told them we did and showed them the booking email, they said i should have booked at reception on arrival. We wasnt told this, no signs, nothing in the emails or txts we received. We were told sorry you cant come in very sternly, i asked if we could have room service and again told NO, i was told i could have a refund and then ignored us to welcome the people in the que behind us, we wer quite upset and felt humiliated, we just packed and left immediatly. We will never use this hotel chain again.

We have just returned from this hotel from a weekend away, celebrating my hen do. A large group of us arrived on Friday and all of our rooms were ready on time or early. The staff on check in were fantastic, we were given free Buck’s Fizz on arrival, and when the staff found out what we were there to celebrate they arranged a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates for me. We were looked after wonderfully and we cannot thank the staff enough for being so accommodating. The friendliness of every single person we spoke to and asked for help was astounding and it truly made the weekend, so thank you.

Hi Louise
Do not book this hotel it’s run down dingy & crap
Both car parks were open when I was there. one below the hotel and another underneath the main road, The car park below the hotel was also used as storage for nearby car dealership although their area is securely gated from the Premier Inn parking area.
Scaffolding was still there but our top floor room had a clear view, as did the hotel bar / restaurant where you take breakfast.
over the bridge to scale lane across the road to silver street onto whitefriagate . Husband said about 5 minutes I would say 10 minutes
My husband and I, my granddaughter and her friend stayed at this Premier Inn in July 2021. We had two rooms. The rooms had not been modernised so the TVs in each were small flat screen ones mounted on movable arms extending from the wall to a shelf on the cabinet. We are not sure whether they had HDM1 connections on the sides of the TVs. This is the best information we can provide.
