Hotel is very nice looking from outside and very grand. It's a stone's throw from the train station which was perfect for me as I wanted to leave my luggage in my room and go to my meeting. In fact, it's so close to the station that the back of the restaurant looks into the station and you can watch...

My wife and I spent three nights at the Mercure Royal (Wed-Sat) as a base to visit the City of Culture 2017. Our room on the first floor overlooked Beverley Road and the city beyond. It was well appointed and everything in good order. Our first night we ate in the restaurant which was acceptable although not exceptional. The staff...

I came here for a three-night city break with my wife. We had booked a week or so in advance with Mercure Hotels and found on our arrival that it had been bought just three hours earlier by Britannia Hotels. This made it hard to find as they'd obviously nipped round smartly and changed all the signs that very afternoon....

Having booked 1 nights accommodation for this week I was very surprised upon arrival that firstly there was no signage to indicate the presence of a Mecure Hotel and secondly to be informed that as from the previous day the hotel was now owned and managed by the often maligned Britannia Group. Free parking is available on site which required...

Stayed for two nights with the husband who was attending an RMT conference on this site. The location of the hotel is central and the back entrance sits in Hull train station; so this was a great big plus. What lets the Hotel down is the size of the bedroom very tiny and the quality of the room. The room...

I came to Hull to give a talk for International Women's Day and I was booked into this hotel. I was originally assigned a room with a strong smell of air freshener or cleaning liquid-- to which I felt allergic. I rang the main desk and Gareth came up, smelled the problem and assigned me another better room. Many thanks...

We booked this hotel for an event, the bar was over priced the food was terrible and local tramps and people not even paying for the benefit of the hotel are just freely using the wash facilities! No security on the door so free access to who ever fancies walking in, if you are visiting Hull personally I would avoid...

Had a wonderful afternoon tea with friends in a very relaxed atmosphere. Lovely place setting in a wonderful location in the foyer. Food was well presented and plentiful also tasted wonderful with hidden treats between the layers. An added bonus was the duo singing songs that were suitable for the range of ages in situ. Special mention to Christine our...

Well I am writing my review using the hotels free WiFi! ]The room was a double and it hit all the boxes, comfy bed, clean and quiet (despite the location). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, I had a faulty light, the manager was here in minutes and changed the bulb and apologies profusely. The window was unable...

Went here today for afternoon tea for my mum's birthday. Table already set for us on arrival. Charlie our waiter was very polite, helpful and courteous. Nothing was too much bother for him. He made our visit very pleasurable. He is a credit to the hotel. I do hope he see's this review.
