The hotel is well maintained, spotlessly clean and staffed by friendly and helpful staff.
My only comment/suggestion would be to move the shower gel dispenser to an adjacent wall (as quickly as I dispensed the gel it was washed away by the shower lol)
My particular thanks to Nick (who noted my request for end of corridor), Eric (who checked me in), Ashley (who sorts things out) and Tracey (who kept my room spotless and fully stocked).
Highly recommend Hull Central Travelodge :-)
The room was clean, the bed was not very comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights and were only given 2 tea bags not 4 same with milk. We also didn't get a bath mat so had to use the hand towel to avoid slipping.
We were unaware at the time of check in how to use the car park and the reception staff told us it was private car park so he couldn't help. At the time of check in we were also unaware that it was the rules to wear a mask in reception we went through the whole check in procedure without a mask on with my partner stood aware from the reception desk and the reception staff said he could not pass my key until I had a mask on and my partner did (which was not a problem but really you should be telling people to put them on before the enter - a sign on the door wouldn't go a miss)
Loud banging on the saturday night in the early hours from people returning from a night out kept me awake the doors should maybe have some kind of soft close fitted?
The food...is terrible. I had a burger and chicken wings the first night, the chicken was white and like goo and the beef burger was made with what I can only describe to be like frozen birdseye burgers and the bun was not toasted and soggy. The worst part is there was mayonnaise all over it, who puts mayonnaise on a BEEF burger?!!
The second night I got a pizza and a salted caramel brownie because you cant mess up a pizza right? Wrong!! The pizza came out with the grated cheese still grated and not melted and the dough still raw so it got sent back, the brownie was nice though.
The room was small but clean and tidy. The TV worked fine and picked up all the digital channels. The shower was excellent and bed comfortable.
The road noise is terrible as you are situated in the middle of a busy crossroads and the windows although double glazed have background vents in the frame you cannot shut so all the noise bleeds through.
My biggest issue was the room not being cleaned, towels replaced and the drinks replenished on my return from work the second day. If you pay the same amount of money as the first nights stay for every night thereafter then you would expect the same standard of service everyday would you not?
In short you need to ensure the standards of food are raised and maintained and the rooms are checked on daily.
Oh and please inform the chef that mayonnaise does not go with red meat!
However, Ashley at reception was very empathetic and accommodating and he offered us another room away from the fray which we decided to take. So glad we did as once in our new room, we had a completely different quiet and peaceful experience.
Our new room had a broken shower gel dispenser and only one towel but was aired and spotless. We were so happy to be there that we didn’t even complain.
Thank you Ashley for your polite professionalism and caring customer service.
Its very clean and staff are always wiping down everywhere.
The rooms are clean and spacious. If you need an iron or iron board it there straight away no hanging around waiting.
Anything you need the staff are very quick to get it for you from extra towels to extra bedding or any other thing you need. Thd staff are always smile a very happy bunch. The hotel is very close to transport link with the train and bus interchange only 5 -10 minutes walk .Its also very close to take outs and shops. Also has a car park at side of hotel which is safe and cheap to park. With this hotel beening in the city your only 5 - 10 minute walk for most places.
Shortly after arriving I noticed that the soap dispenser in my bathroom was empty. I went down to reception and politely asked if someone could come up to refill it - I was told “no” before being asked “is it completely empty?”. When I told the receptionist that it was completely empty, she said she’d see what she could do but that she was “not promising anything”. I received no apology and the soap dispenser wasn’t refilled. In the end I went to get a bottle of hand sanitiser from my car.
The room was comfortable and contained all of the basic necessities (minus soap), but there were no drawers and the only storage space was a few coat hangers in the corner. Luckily, for one night, I was never planning to unpack anyway. I woke up a few times during the night, possibly due to noise coming from the busy main road (despite being on the top floor). Despite leaving my window open all evening and having the radiator off, my room seemed unexplainably hot.
Due to my timetable for the following day, I decided to stay for breakfast before checking out. Breakfast cost £9.75 for all you can eat, it was adequate, although the hash browns were a bit anaemic. I only really ate it out of necessity & convenience, but it did keep me going until teatime.
Very few staff were around in the morning and the check in desk was not being manned, luckily it is very easy to check out without speaking to anyone (which was good because I was in a rush).
Overall the Travelodge offered reasonable value for money, for a one night stay in central Hull, but some definite improvements needed.
Our room was in the most part clean but the remote control for the TV was thinking with detritus as was the desk and the shower cubicle hadn’t been cleaned correctly. We promptly attended reception for some cleaning fluid and a cloth - the team were happy to come up and give the room then once over again but we wanted to do it ourselves. The heater was hanging off the wall and there were cobwebs all round the window. We were in a room on the 1st floor which was very warm all night and suffered from a low level humming noise all night.
The pillows and duvet were very lumpy and upon inspection the duvet was a grey lump of matted wadding - not sure when that was last cleaned.
We have spent many a night in a travelodge as often travel with our dog and have generally been very happy but our last few stays have been a let down, including a stay in Eastbourne recently. Given this stay cost us £86.99 I don’t think it demonstrated good value for money at all. Had we known about this hotel I would of added the extra £10 and stayed at a holiday inn for a far superior experience!
We had dinner at the restaurant - main & desert offer is excellent - we were very happy with the pizzas and desert. Thank you.
"There is a car park next to the hotel which cost max £3.50 for 24 hours. Walking distance to city centre with shops, bars leisure facilities"Read full review
