Enjoyed good simple pub grub great after a day of walking.. Had the lasagne and husband had the Cumberland sausage in a giant Yorkshire pud.. Nice relaxed atmosphere.. staff friendly and would go again if I wanted a straight forward pub meal

We booked a night here last minute to break up a long journey. I had visited the pub before but never stayed, glad we did! Great atmosphere in the pub, great ales and even better food! My boyfriend had the meatballs and has been raving about them ever since! There was live music on which made our night too! The...

Been visiting the Unicorn for 25 years. Used to be run by a lovely couple, now it's run by a knob head. I think the old saying "couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery" was created by this landlord. And finally the prices, £9.95 for a sloppy Iceland chicken burger. Absolute disgrace.

If you are after an old Inn experience with traditional top quality cask ales and good hearty food. You must stay here, quirky clean comfortable rooms and welcoming staff greeting you with a complementary pint! Happy days. Great atmosphere very busy at night also with live music! Definitely going back.

After a long drive and arriving late it was a nice touch that there was a drink for us at the bar. The breakfast was ample and the bed was comfortable. Very accommodating and nice and central in amblezide

We were here for a couple of nights on the way up to Scotland, and on checkin the staff were very friendly and offered us a complimentary drink. I believe this is the oldest pub in Ambleside, and it certainly has many olden day features which add to the ambience, including some rather uneven flooring - which we like. There...

I'm away for a few days doing a bit of walking. I needed a relatively cheap but good quality evening meal to fill me up. This is the place. Sensible pub food at ok prices. The Hungarian meatballs come highly recommended and I agree. Portions good size and freshly cooked. I can't ask any more after a long walk in...

If you want a short low priced stay in the lake district the Unicorn Inn in Ambleside will fit the bill. The room I had was small but clean and the beds comfy. Had to share bathroom but this was not a problem and it was clean. there was a wash basin in the bedroom but no plug for it....
