We stayed for one night which was more than enough our room was a superior room god help what the other inferior rooms were like. The room was so old fashioned with pink bedding , a wardrobe which leaned drastically , no heating in room that you could control a shower that was stuck in the bathroom like a tardis...

If you like your ales and rustic approach this is good a nice lunchtime retreat after a long walk. The staff re very welcoming. Only one thing I that the decor is all a bit tired. Food was solid fare and pretty good value. Didn't stay in the accommodation so cant help with that

We stumbled across this place by accident, the rooms were clean and quirky, Paul the owner was so lovely and made us feel very welcome, his breakfast was lovely and he worked so hard seeing to everyone's needs. There was live music which created a lovely atmosphere, will defiantly return.

A fabulous location, breakfast was excellent although service was abruptly delivered. Same member of staff decided to barge into our room at 10.05 am (check out was 10.30am), whilst we were in a state of undress, to clean, even though the television was obviously on, indicating that we were still obviously in the room. During breakfast check out had been...

The staff at the pub were welcoming although not too sure how to make a Martini and lemonade (it's a measure of Martini topped with lemonade!).We decided to eat here and managed to find a table that had chairs and not stools. The steaks we were served were not cooked properly, i wanted medium rare but half of it was medium/well...

Relaxed & very welcoming pub! Know what they do & do it well! Trip advisors insists on more but I just wanted to acknowledge the respectful & knowledgable service. Still not enough characters - a very good Lakeland pub! Thank you! Getting fed up of having to say more .... I just wanted to compliment the pub

Lots of cask ales on sale and the prices were reasonable. It's an old fashioned pub and larger on the inside than it looks. The staff were really friendly and a couple we chatted to had eaten here and said the food was great. Could probably do with some modernisation soon

Popped in for quick drink before tea and it was heaving! It was raining at the time but the impression was of a warm and friendly, old style pub that remains popular with locals and tourists alike. We didn't eat but those at neighbouring tables did. The portion sizes were definitely on the large size and the way they smelt...

Came with my son, he raved about his gammon, which he finished. I had the cod and chips. Proper pub grub at the right price and the beer was good as well. Not a criticism as such, but it may look a little dated.

A lovely small pub tucked away in Ambleside. Good hearty and tasty pub food and very friendly staff. Came twice during our week's holiday and will definitely return given the chance :). Thursday nights have live music which adds to the ambiance!
