our 3rd stay at the duck, engagement, then two children come along for a stay, then weekend away with the siblings for a well earned rest!and probably our tenth or eleventh time dining, the duck never disappoints, food executed with great cooking and style, great bar area with superb home brew beers and a great selection of wines and fizz! only a...

We are an Aussie couple who recently spent 4 nights at the Drunken Duck Inn which came highly recommended from other Aussie friends . We throughly enjoyed our stay in this quiet peaceful convenient location. The menu and wine list were excellent as were the boutique beers brewed on site. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of lovely...

Could not have chosen a better pub/hotel for a long weekend celebration of my wife's birthday with my daughter and her partner. Ideally located on a remote crossroads a couple of miles above Ambleside, the Duck was a delight from start to finish. The bar caters for local trade as well as casual visitors and we were made to feel...

We have recently returned from a lovely relaxing stay at the drunken duck at ambleside. This was a treat for my husbands birthday! We arrived earlier than planned and our room wasnt ready, so we sat and had a few drinks and took in the beautiful views and surroundings!! It was very busy but still got great service and the...

Although not cheap this place has a wonderful feel about it. The service is great and the room we stayed in was lovely with a little patio with beautiful views. We will definitely return. Little touches like early tea served in your room in the morning are special for what is really a pub with rooms.

Last Sunday, my wife and I wanted to go eat at the Drunken Duck for our wedding anniversary. Our booking was at 21h00, however due to the place being particularly difficult to find in the dark (Drunken Duck, you REALLY need to do something about your road signs!) and driving all around Ambleside, we didn't arrive until 21h40 only to...

Wonderfully located for walking in the beautiful pastoral landscape--far enough outside of Amblyside to avoid the tourist crush. The food was excellent and we were fortunate to be there for perfect weather so each evening started with a pint outside enjoying the view. Breakfasts were excellent and a don't miss is to have tea in the afternoon (included)-our favourite spot...

Noisy, hot, expensive and not as good as the times said it was !! Rooms 6 and 7 should be avoided as they are above the kitchen and air con units please be warned, they don't turn off until very late even when you complain. Very disappointing and we complained about this but no notice taken. Sorry but can't recommend this...
