We had an enjoyable stay at the Waterhead in Sept 2013 with no complaints other than the cost. It was extremely expensive and I don't believe the quality of the room justified the price. Much more reasonably priced accommodation around Ambleside to be had. There was nothing outstanding about the room to justify the price, although the restaurant was fabulous.

Stayed here for one night whilst working in Ambleside and what a treat it was. Beautifully located across the road from the lake, it offers views from the bar and restaurant. The rooms are extremely modern and comfortable - my only complaint is the bed was softer than usual but I understand that is purely my personal taste. I loved...

This is a good place to stay in the lakes district. The village is small but the hotel is quite big. The rooms are good and done up nicely. Its an old hotel but in good condition.Good resataurant. The ferry is right near to do trips on the lake.

We had a one night stop here on our way to Scotland. It was a very rainy drive up from London so we were very tired when we arrived. Staff were lovely and dealt with us promptly and efficiently. We travelled with 2 small dogs and they were welcomed effusively - Beds and bowls were waiting for them and they...

Extremely helpful staff who are completely customer focused. Beautiful rooms, views and lovely breakfast. An idealic and highly recommended Lake District holiday and short break location. We had a fairly complex request during our stay which was dealt with effectively, efficiently and with 'no fuss'.

This is the third time we have visited the Waterhead Hotel and loved every visit. The bedrooms are really clean and spacious. The beds are massive and so comfy. The restaurant serves fantastic food. The location is amazing - all you have to do is cross a road and your at the shore of the lake. This visit was for...

The perfect location for any stay in the lakes. the hotel is virtually on the shores of lake with some great views. The staff were wonderful, they really couldn't have been more lovely and helpful. The room was one of the best I've ever stayed in for tea and coffee making, might sound silly but after a long day it's...

Have just enjoyed a delightful 4 night break at this Hotel and we were sorry to leave. When visiting the Lake District it is a perfect place to stay overlooking Lake Windermere and within walking distance of Ambleside. The hotel itself is stylish and comfortable. The food superb. Breakfast offered a wide range of hot and cold food all excellent...
