Lovely 2 night stay in a hideaway. Small but well laid out and everything you need. Comfortable bed, lovely large shower, heating great, tv, in fact everything you would need for a lovely relaxing break. We were shown to the hideaway by warden Jackie who explained everything to us. Included were toiletries, teabags, coffee etc and the bottle of prosecco...

We have visited this site twice now and have enjoyed both times. The site is very beautiful set in woodland and is maintained to a very high standard. The toilet blocks are warm and clean and the shop nicely stocked with basic items and a good DVD rental library. The only slight things we would pick up on this time...

We wanted a motorhome site in the Lakes that was central to many of the places we wanted to visit, and settled on this place. As has been noted it is within a good walk of Ambleside; Windermere and Bowness are not far away, the Langdales are just round the corner and Coniston is reached easily. In addition, as well...

We're very pleased you had such a pleasant stay. Ever so slightly confused by your review title and 2 stars though. We hope to see you at Skelwith Fold again very soon. Kind regards,

This is actually a very nice site set in woodland. The shower and toilet blocks are well kept and lovely and warm in October with the underfloor heating. We were on a Premium Pitch travelling in a motorhome. We chose the Premium as we were travelling with friends and had stayed on these previously. They are in a better position,...

I am very sorry that your experience with one of our Wardens on you latest visit was not a positive one and may have soured your visit. On the odd occasion that we do have to deal with noise which you quite rightly point out can carry quite easily in such a peaceful setting with only awning canvas as a...

The booking in process was efficient, despite an initial mix up with our booking details. When at capacity, it is difficult to find a suitable pitch due to multiple vehicles (cars with caravans) and blurring pitch sizings. This being said, the site was well laid out, very clean, with well maintained facilities. The site does seem to lend itself to...

I took my girlfriend to the hideaway for three nights for her birthday as a suprise and she loved it and so did I. We have been to a few sites up and down the UK now and this is our best so far. The hideaway is obviously small but it's practical, it's cosy and that's what I wanted for...

Hubby and I have just stayed at this site for 3 nights in our motorhome, it is a beautiful place to stay with very well maintained grounds. The toilet/shower blocks are very clean and have underfloor heating keeping them lovely and warm on chilly autumn mornings. We will defiantly be returning next time we are in the Lake District hopefully...

Went here for a weekend break. The greeting at the reception was warm and friendly. All staff wherever they were met in the park were happy smiley people and always helpful. The park itself was immaculately clean along with the shower/toilet block. Considering how large the park is it was extremely quiet. All in all an excellent place to stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Skelwith Fold is a unique and special touring caravan and motorhome holiday park - and a beautiful home-from-home for our guests. In the heart of the Lake District National Park we have 300 privately owned static caravan holiday homes. For touring and motorhome holidays we offer the highest of standards and facilities as one of the finest touring caravan and motorhome parks in the Lake District. For those wanting a unique couples getaway, our Hideaways provide the perfect retreat for a few days. But we're more than a caravan park; Our 130 acres are begging to be explored. There are plenty of paths to follow, leading to a wealth of discoveries, including our mystical tarn, sculptures and breathtaking views of the Langdale Pikes and surrounding fells. Although Skelwith Fold houses over 400 pitches it has the feel of a much smaller park - the various accommodation areas have been carefully and sympathetically set out in small woodland glades, settled amongst natural undulating features, creating a sense of quiet and intimacy. Even in the height of the season, the park does not have a crowded feel. ... more   less
