Great review, thanks. Makes you wonder what upset the previous reviewer.
Among other elements of low-quality service, we were not allowed to use the toilets inside the hostel after the checking out. I don't think that any decent accommodation business would do that.Bad reputation.

This is a typical 'Hostel' style B&B. It is a perfect base for trips out of Ambleside, although it has limited carparking on site. There is on-street parking nearby, but you have to be lucky to get a space.

Thanks for the good review, small correction -breakfast is toast and cereals (not or) and of course there is tea, coffee, preserves as well - even Marmite some days.
Parking is as you say interesting in Ambleside, however I have never paid to park yet...More
I loved my stay a Ambleside backpackers. It takes you back to the real hostel experience as opposed to so many hostels that try and be trendy hotels. The price was very reasonable and included breakfast as well.

All you say is pretty much as it says on our web site.
The parking is limited but there is a map in the porch showing all on street free and time limited parking near the hostel and you should never have to feed Cumbria...More
