Clean but dated. Very overpriced for the quality provided. We only had toiletries for one guest. No cleaning materials for the bath tub, so one person had to shower. No telephone in the room. The room was more like an American motel room overlooking the car park so felt quite vulnerable. Guests in room above very noisy, came in late...

Thank you for taking the time to review Brathay Lodge it was nice to meet you both. Regarding your feedback on the newly refurbished ground floor room it was disappointing that you felt the room was dated which we understand everyone has their own opinions on colour schemes etc however were pleased you found the room warm, comfortable and clean...

We stayed here a few years ago and came back with our children this weekend. Lovely pleasant staff, clean, spacious but still cosy room. Ideal for Ambleside, our children's view 'the best hotel we have ever stayed in!' Hopefully we will be back soon.

Very nice stay for two nights. Super breakfast. Really nice staff. Perfect position in Ambleside. Family room decent size and split so kids could do their own thing. Car park really handy no hassle to get into town.

Lovely big room, huge bed and spacious bathroom. The view from the room is stunning especially at night when the church is lit up. The lodge is situated in a prime spot near the shops, restaurant and pubs. The breakfast was lovely with a good selection. I would definitely recommend Brathay Lodge.

Stayed for 3 nights in ground floor room opening directly onto car park. Can't really fault anything, room was very clean lovely hot shower and jacuzzi bath. One evening it was warm so we sat on the patio area outside the room with our drinks. Great location for the centre of Ambleside on foot. Good choice at breakfast, it got...

We decided to book a short break at Brathay Lodge - a large B and B in Ambleside - during the October half term. We booked this B and B because we were booking last minute and it was the one that kept coming up on the booking.com website. The room we were given was a twin room for my...

Thank you for taking the time to review Brathay Lodge. I was disappointed to read you hadn't enjoyed your stay and in particular our very popular twin rooms that provide 2 full size single beds as advertised and described accordingly. This was arranged as per your booking request however we do have larger rooms with king-size and super-king beds which...

We booked 3 rooms for a family get together and found they were all as expected from the photos and description - spacious, well decorated and comfortable. Super clean, quiet despite the central location. Ample parking and liked the lounge area. Breakfast was good, the continental buffet style suited us. Great selection of fruit and tasty fresh bread, good coffee...

Stayed here for two nights in September. Arrived earlier than check in time and popped in just to let them know we were here and going to leave car in car park, was pleased that as room was ready that we were able to check in early. However on checking in we were told that when our booking came through...

Thank you for the review. Having looked into your booking you had reserved one night room only and one nights B & B in Brathay Lodge of which the room rates reflected this. These bookings are common and we don't question why guests have chosen these options however as my colleague explained the option to add breakfast was offered. Reception...

Enjoyed a two night stay. Ideal base for walkers & centrally located in Ambleside. Our room was in the adjoining building & was a nice size; double bed with table & chairs. Clean & comfortable. The Jacuzzi was just average size bath but ok after a 10 Mile hike. Fresh continental breakfast in the morning, good choice of cereals; breads;...

This was our second visit to Brathay Lodge and we enjoyed our stay. The spa bath is the biggest attraction as far as the room is concerned. The double bed is huge and the room is a good size. Thank you for taking the time to review Brathay Lodge. You have our apologies on missing the linen change and have my reassurance this isn't the norm! We have over the past 9 years improved the creaky floor boards but we are replacing carpets currently and are taking the opportunity to review again. Were pleased the private parking, Jacuzzi, king-szie...
