We both really enjoyed our stay. It was 5 nights... arrival on a Monday (23rd Sept) and departure on Saturday. We had room 14. A garden room right by the car park and by the main road. I have to say that there was no noise from either disturbing us once we were in our room. Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom likewise. Our bath was large as was the shower cubicle that gave a more than adequate flow of water...infact it was more of a hot drench..most welcome after the mixed weather the area is known for. The location of the hotel is ideal. Close enough to the town centre but not a town centre hotel. Lake Windermere is within a ten minute dawdle or 5 minute brisk walk. Our rooms were serviced daily and to a more than high standard. The main contact we had with hotel staff was with the breakfast team. The breakfast format is different to what i'd normally expect but one i much preferred. It is not buffet style. Cereal/Pastries/Fruits are ordered and bought to your table. Likewise toast, orange juice and coffee. But you can ask for more juice/coffee/toast. This format works well in the medium sized restaurant. I would guess that if you wanted more Cereal/Pastries/Fruit they would oblige. The main breakfast course has a daily special or ...full Lakeland (english) breakfast (could beans be included?-would be my suggestion), Kippers (i enjoyed) or a vegan option also i recall. I hope the breakfast format does not change as it's perfect and a refreshing change. The breakfast team were, as i mentioned above our main contact with hotel staff. They were polite and made at feel at ease. Nothing was too much trouble and when we asked for a refill or more toast when they had another task in hand the request was not forgotten and dealt with in a timely manner. Too many hotels try to be something they are not and miss out on doing the basics well. This hotel does the simple things well. We thoroughly recommend the Fisherbeck.

Booked at last minute just for one night. Car parked without a problem. Warm welcome from reception and given one of the garden rooms. Great size room and bathroom, excellent shower and nice big fluffy towels! Spotlessly clean as well. Breakfast was excellent as were all the staff we spoke with. Short walk into Ambleside for food and drink. Only tiny issue in the room was the Wi-fi signal but hey, lovely place!

Booked this last year for a special birthday treat - on first impression really steep stairs - struggled to get up them with my walker - checked in and was shown to a room on the first floor - up more steps !!! On looking at the room it was very small -we called it the cupboard and the view was horrible we were located at the back with a really busy road - you couldn’t open the window as you either had cars speeding up and down or people shouting or bottles being emptied and the most lovely view of a brick building - we were very disappointed - struggled with the shower as could not get any hot water - I’m disabled with numbness down the left side and to have to struggle with the stairs with my walker was horrible - my partner has incurable cancer so every milestone is special - we just felt let down - good points - it’s clean - breakfast is lovely with waitress service - also the place is central for getting about with buses stopping outside - negative points not disabled friendly and staff obviously watching you struggle with stairs but nothing said or offer to change the room to help - if I was checking somebody in who you could see had an obvious disability I would have done my best to change to a more appropriate room - perhaps that might be something to point out to staff

We greatly enjoyed our three night stay at the Fisherbeck. We received a very warm welcome from Mr and Mrs Lane and experienced excellent, friendly service from all the staff. Our room had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. It was lovely to look out at the mountains. Breakfast was amazing - I ate far too much but it was hard to resist! We would definitely stay here again.

how is it for parking?
Thank you for your question. Here at The Fisherbeck we are lucky enough to have our own private car park at the front of the property. Parking is free and we just ask that on arrival you park between the markers so that everyone gets a space.
