We popped in for tea, service was good , food was above average . Menu was sticky and dirty , table was the same . Didn’t use the toilets as my husband used the men’s and said it was disgusting. Place is in need of redecoration and new seating as that was worn and ripped .
Six of us stayed at the Innkeepers Cottage and all really enjoyed it. This is not the place if you are looking for 5 star elegance but if you want somewhere with a bit of character and friendly staff it is great. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. It has it's own residents parking and the situation in the heart of Ambleside is great.…
I have to start with the staff who were very friendly, but to be honest that was it for us. The room wasnot very clean, carpet was dirty and curtains sticky. There was tea and coffee in rooms but you had to go the bar to get milk, no good when you get up early and no one about. A continental breakfast was included but in fact it was cereal, toast and croissants. A full English would cost another £8.75. Breakfast was served from 8.30 which is far too late. We had a room above the busy bar, but at eleven it went off, but there appeared to be people in the bar until 2 am who were noisy and made their way to their rooms banging about at 2am. We would not stay there again.…
stayed on a busy summers day on a Saturday. Booked in just after 4pm and a warm welcome by the girl behind the bar who took us up to show us the room. Our room did overlook the main road and there was some noise but nothing that put us off. Lovely beds and large room too. There is car parking directly on site and it was busy with spaces but we managed to get a spot. There was a separate entrance allowing late entry without a key. Extra tea and coffee in the rooms and bottles of shampoo and shower gel provided. Great location for getting around Ambleside would recommend.…
We have just come back from a stay at the White Lion hotel in Ambleside it is in a central location so top marks for that and has parking the staff where friendly did not eat main meals there so can’t comment the room we stayed in had a nice large comfy bed but the room itself was tired paintwork scratched / chipped same downstairs in bar area and toilets looks like the hotel is long overdue a refurbishment mould over the shower no toilet brush in bathroom which I find strange have stayed at several innkeepers lodges before but this was slightly disappointing …
