We visit the lakes several times a year and have been doing so for over 10 years. Waterwheel is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed in. Lovely room, lovely breakfast and central position. They also provide a car park pass which is brilliant. Other B&Bs that don't have their own parking just tell you the free hours. Highly...

We couldn't recommend this B&B enough! We've been back to the Waterwheel a couple of times now, and plan on returning many more. Nigel and Julie are just fantastic... So accommodating and helpful, they're a pleasure to stay with. The rooms are lovely, the roll-top baths a real treat, and the breakfasts are out of this world. A very special...

In August I stayed at the B&B for the second time this year. I stayed in April this year, and as my friend was getting married in Ambleside in August I decided to book it for the night before the wedding. I recommended it to my friends also and we all stayed in the three rooms for one night before...

We have just returned from a few days break in the lakes and we found The Waterwheel Inn at the very last minute, how glad we were! This is an amazing place, the hosts Nigel and Julie are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, they are well informed about walks, views and places to eat. We stayed in...

This was a lovely place to stay. Excellent hosts. Charming and stylish room. We stayed in Stockghyll which had a view of the waterwheel. Great breakfast. Thoroughly recommend this bed and breakfast in the heart of Ambleside.

Arrived at the guest house by flowing the directions given (really easy to follow). Lovely location right in the heart of Ambleside, although you wouldn't know it as it's so quiet. We arrived and was greeted by Julie, who welcomed us and told us to come and go as we please and do as we would at home. The Waterwheel...

We have been visiting Ambleside at least once a year for the last 10 years and I must say this is one of the best B&Bs that we have stayed in. The hosts were very welcoming and the breakfasts were superb. The room was a perfect size, tastefully decorated and the little touches like wi-fi, port and lemon cake in...

Cannot fault anything about this lovely little B&B and would heartily recommend it to anyone visiting Ambleside. The roll top bath being the crowning glory for a long soak after the Windermere marathon. I may actually keep it secret so that we can come back whenever we want without having to wait for a free weekend!!

We can only agree with all the other reviews ....the location is central, the rooms are very well appointed, the extras (chocolate cake, port) are very welcome, the breakfast first class, the availability of walking books and maps helpful ... and finally, the hosts are most welcoming and friendly.
