5* stay :-). Great family run hotel with warm welcome. Stayed in room 11 with outstanding views. Breakfast was plentiful with a mix of pastries, cereal, fruit, yoghurt followed by a full English breakfast. Presentation and quality of the food was really nice with a very hot plate (which is a rarity). Hotel is great location for cockermouth (10 mins... More

Great value for money. Place is a little dated but it is comfortable. We did not eat there so can't comment on the food quality, but the menu appeared to cater for most tastes. Great setting, just outside of the national park, but plenty close enough for the north-west lakes.

I stayed here for several weeks while working in the area and enjoyed it, the staff very friendly nothing was a problem, rooms were very good, food was great, the setting is superb and quite so no problems sleeping. If you are in the area I would recommend you stay here.

I stayed two nights and found the whole experience first class. The friendly, helpful staff were busy and multitasking but didn't lose their smiles or sense of humour. A lovely building with high ceilings is well kept and clean. Huge log fire and large leather sofas made the lounge very comfortable - just the place to snuggle down and read... More

The hotel is nicely located and the first impression is of a very nice and well-kept building. Unfortunately, the positive impact is frustrated by the grumpy "welcoming" personnel, which continued to be so for the whole duration of our stay, showing a bit of a relief just when we paid and went away. The room on the back of the... More

The staff were really very accommodating at this lovely hotel. They didn't even charge us for our extras. Beautiful surroundings too. Charming hotel I highly recommend it. Excellent value for money. Worth a visit.

You had arrived between services - Yes you were the only ones here at that time. and no-one told you that you were the only residents because you were not! Your comments on leaving were -... More

Had a great 2 night stay for business in the area. Rooms were comfortable. Hotel is set in lovely countryside. Great welcome and hosting by Dan. Great breakfast! Would love to stay again. I would recommend this place for business visitors and tourists as a good central stay.
